Model: SURTD3000RMXLT3U

Introduction

This manual provides essential instructions for the safe installation, operation, and maintenance of your APC Smart-UPS RT 3000VA 208V 3U Rackmount UPS System. This Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) is designed to provide reliable power protection for your critical electronic equipment, ensuring continuous operation during power outages and fluctuations.

Important Safety Instructions

Please read these instructions carefully before installing, operating, servicing, or maintaining the equipment. Failure to follow these instructions can result in serious injury or equipment damage.

Setup and Installation

1. Unpacking and Inspection

Carefully unpack the UPS and inspect it for any shipping damage. Report any damage to the carrier and your dealer. The package should contain the UPS unit, rackmount hardware, and documentation.

2. Physical Installation (Rackmount)

The APC Smart-UPS RT 3000VA is designed for 3U rackmount installation. Use the provided rackmount hardware to secure the unit in a standard 19-inch equipment rack. Ensure adequate space for airflow around the unit.

3. Battery Connection

5. Initial Power-Up

After all connections are secure, press the power button on the front panel to turn on the UPS. The UPS will perform a self-test and the status indicators will illuminate. Allow the batteries to charge for at least 24 hours to ensure full runtime capacity.

Operation

Front Panel Display and Controls

The front panel features an LED status display with load and battery bar-graphs, along with indicators for On Line, On Battery, Replace Battery, Overload, and Bypass. Control buttons allow for power on/off, self-test, and menu navigation.

Normal Operation

Under normal conditions, the UPS operates in "On Line" mode, providing conditioned power to connected equipment and charging the batteries. The "On Line" indicator will be illuminated.

On Battery Operation

During a power outage or significant voltage fluctuation, the UPS automatically transfers to battery power. The "On Battery" indicator will illuminate, and an audible alarm may sound. The UPS will provide power for approximately 14.1 minutes at full load (2100 Watts) with standard battery configuration.

Bypass Operation

The UPS features an internal bypass (automatic and manual). In bypass mode, utility power is supplied directly to the connected equipment, bypassing the UPS's power conditioning circuitry. This mode is typically used for maintenance or in case of an internal UPS fault. The "Bypass" indicator will be illuminated.

Emergency Power Off (EPO)

The UPS includes an Emergency Power Off (EPO) port. Connecting an EPO switch to this port allows for immediate shutdown of the UPS and connected equipment in an emergency situation. Refer to the installation guide for EPO connection details.

Maintenance

Battery Replacement

The UPS uses maintenance-free sealed Lead-Acid batteries. The "Replace Battery" indicator will illuminate when the batteries need replacement. Batteries are hot-swappable, meaning they can be replaced without powering down the connected equipment. Refer to the specific battery replacement instructions provided with your replacement battery modules. Typical recharge time for new batteries is 2.5 hours.

Cleaning

Keep the UPS free of dust and debris. Use a dry cloth to clean the exterior. Do not use liquid cleaners or solvents.

Firmware Updates

Periodically check the APC website for available firmware updates for your UPS model. Firmware updates can provide improved performance, features, and bug fixes. Follow the instructions provided with the firmware update package carefully.

Troubleshooting

This section provides solutions to common issues. For more complex problems, contact APC technical support.
