Setup
Submerged Installation:
- Place the pump on a stable, flat surface at the bottom of your pond or water feature. Ensure it is fully submerged in water.
- Connect the appropriate tubing or piping to the 1/2-inch MNPT discharge outlet. Secure connections to prevent leaks.
- Ensure the 1/2-inch FNPT intake is clear of debris.
- Route the 18-foot power cord safely to a grounded GFCI-protected outlet, ensuring no kinks or damage.
In-Line (External) Installation:
- Position the pump on a dry, level surface near your water source. The pump must be placed below the water level to ensure proper priming.
- Connect tubing or piping to both the 1/2-inch FNPT intake and the 1/2-inch MNPT discharge. Use appropriate fittings and sealants to ensure watertight connections.
- Ensure the intake line is submerged in the water source and the discharge line leads to your desired output.
- Route the 18-foot power cord safely to a grounded GFCI-protected outlet.
- Before starting, ensure the pump is primed by allowing water to fill the pump housing.
Operating Instructions
- Once the pump is properly installed and all connections are secure, plug the 3-prong grounded power cord into a GFCI-protected 120V AC outlet.
- The pump will begin to operate, circulating water.
- Monitor the water flow to ensure it is consistent and free of air bubbles, especially during initial startup for in-line installations.
- To turn off the pump, simply unplug it from the power outlet.
Maintenance
Regular maintenance will ensure the optimal performance and longevity of your Pondmaster pump.
- Disconnect Power: Always unplug the pump from the power source before any maintenance.
- Clean Impeller and Housing: Periodically remove the pump from the water (or disconnect from lines for in-line use) and inspect the impeller and pump housing for debris such as leaves, algae, or sediment. Remove any obstructions carefully.
- Rinse Components: Rinse the impeller and housing with clean water. For stubborn mineral deposits or biological buildup, a mild solution of citric acid can be used. Do not use vinegar or harsh chemicals as they can damage the pump components, especially the ceramic shaft.
- Inspect Power Cord: Regularly check the power cord for any signs of wear, cuts, or damage. Replace the pump if the cord is damaged.
- Winterization: In freezing climates, remove the pump from the water before temperatures drop below freezing. Clean the pump thoroughly and store it in a frost-free location, submerged in a bucket of water to keep seals moist, or ensure it is completely dry.
