Setup and First Use

Before using your BACtrack S80, ensure it is properly set up.

1. Install Batteries: The device requires 2 AA batteries. These are included with your purchase. Open the battery compartment on the back of the device and insert the batteries, ensuring correct polarity.
2. Attach Mouthpiece: Insert a fresh, disposable mouthpiece into the designated slot on the top of the BACtrack S80. Ensure it is securely fitted.
3. Power On: Press the "Start" button to power on the device. The display will illuminate and begin a countdown.

Operating Instructions

Follow these steps for accurate BAC testing:

1. Wait 20 Minutes: For the most accurate results, wait at least 20 minutes after your last drink, eating, or smoking before performing a test. This allows residual mouth alcohol to dissipate.
2. Power On: Press the "Start" button. The device will display "WAIT" and begin a countdown from 10 to 0. This is the warm-up period for the sensor.
3. Begin Test: Once the countdown reaches zero and the display shows "BLOW", take a deep breath. Blow steadily and continuously into the mouthpiece for approximately 5 full seconds until you hear a click or beep, indicating a sufficient breath sample has been collected.
4. View Results: The device will process the sample and display your Blood Alcohol Content (BAC) result on the screen.
5. Change Units/Set Thresholds: You can change units of measurement and set user-defined BAC thresholds for testing using the "MODE" button. Refer to the full owner's manual for detailed instructions on these advanced features.

Maintenance and Calibration

To ensure the longevity and accuracy of your BACtrack S80, proper maintenance is essential.

• Mouthpiece Replacement: Always use a fresh, disposable mouthpiece for each test to maintain hygiene and accuracy.
• Cleaning: Wipe the exterior of the device with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or immerse the device in water.
• Storage: Store the breathalyzer in its provided carrying case in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
• Recalibration: All breathalyzers, including BACtrack devices, require periodic recalibration to maintain accuracy. It is recommended to recalibrate your S80 approximately once a year or after 200-300 tests, whichever comes first.
