1. Introduction and Overview

2. Setup and Installation

The REX 550W Servo Motor is designed for easy installation, utilizing the same mounting holes as standard clutch motors. No clutch or brake disc is required.

2.1 Included Components:

• Motor unit with pre-installed 75mm pulley
• On/Off switch box with fuse holder (pre-installed fuse + 1 extra)
• Power cord and plug
• Belt guard
• Mounting hardware (carriage bolts, nuts, washers, rubber vibration dampeners)
• 110V light adapter

2.2 Mounting the Motor:

1. Position the motor under your sewing machine table, aligning the mounting holes.
2. Insert the carriage bolts through the top of the table.
3. Place the rubber vibration dampeners between the table and the motor, ensuring the small tip/extension points towards the motor.
4. Secure with flat washers, lock washers, and nuts from underneath. Tighten just enough to flatten the lock washer.

2.3 Belt Installation and Adjustment:

Connect the motor to the sewing machine's handwheel using a V-belt. The motor's mounting bracket pivots to allow for belt tension adjustment. Typically, a 3/8-inch V-belt with a length between 39 to 42 inches is suitable. Adjust the two nuts on the threaded rod to achieve proper belt tension. A slightly looser belt can improve slow-speed control.

2.4 Treadle Rod Connection:

Connect the adjustable treadle rod from the motor's lever to your foot pedal. For optimal control, it is often recommended to mount the linkage on the furthest hole out towards the end of the lever.

2.5 Pulley Replacement (Optional Upgrade):

The motor comes with a 75mm pulley installed. For even slower speeds and increased punching power, especially for walking foot or leatherworking machines, a smaller 45mm pulley (with a 15mm bore) can be installed. These are widely available separately.

1. To remove the existing pulley, use an impact driver with a 19mm socket to loosen the nut.
2. Carefully remove the nut, lock washer, star washer, and the 75mm pulley. Keep the woodruff key.
3. Slide the smaller 45mm replacement pulley onto the motor shaft, ensuring the woodruff key is correctly seated.
4. Reinstall the star washer, lock washer, and nut. Tighten just enough to flatten the lock washer.

3.1 Power On/Off:

Use the red On/Off switch on the external switch box to power the motor. This switch also controls the 110V outlet on the back of the motor.

3.2 Speed Control:

• Foot Pedal: The motor offers variable speed control directly through your sewing machine's foot pedal, allowing for precise speed adjustments during operation.
• Speed Limit Dial: A dial on the motor unit allows you to set the maximum RPM (0 - 3450 RPM). This limits the top speed, providing finer control, especially for intricate work or when learning.

3.3 Motor Direction (Reversible Switch):

A reversible switch is located on the back of the motor. This allows you to change the direction of motor rotation. Most industrial sewing machines require the handwheel to turn towards the operator. If your machine is not forming stitches correctly after installation, check this switch and adjust if necessary. Some specialized machines, like leather skivers, may require reverse rotation.

3.4 110V Light Adapter:
