Installation
Installation of the XO Vision DX382 Car Alarm System requires basic knowledge of automotive electrical systems. It is recommended that installation be performed by a qualified professional. Refer to the wiring diagram provided with your product for specific connections.
General Installation Steps:
- Mount the Main Control Unit: Choose a secure, hidden location inside the vehicle, away from direct moisture and extreme temperatures.
- Connect Power and Ground: Connect the main power wire (typically red) to a constant 12V power source and the ground wire (typically black) to a solid chassis ground point. Ensure proper fusing.
- Connect Siren: Mount the siren in the engine compartment, facing downwards to prevent water accumulation. Connect its wires to the main control unit.
- Install Shock Sensor: Mount the shock sensor securely to a rigid part of the vehicle's interior. Adjust sensitivity as needed (refer to the Operating section).
- Connect Door/Trunk/Hood Triggers: Wire the appropriate trigger inputs to your vehicle's door, trunk, and hood pin switches.
- Connect Parking Lights/Turn Signals: Wire the alarm's output to flash the vehicle's parking lights or turn signals when armed/disarmed or triggered.
- Test All Functions: After installation, thoroughly test all alarm functions, including arming, disarming, shock sensor, and other convenience features.
Operating Instructions
The DX382 system is operated using the included 4-button remote controls.
Remote Control Functions:
- Arming: Press the Lock button once to arm the system. The vehicle's lights will flash, and the siren will chirp once.
- Disarming: Press the Unlock button once to disarm the system. The vehicle's lights will flash twice, and the siren will chirp twice.
- Panic/Car Finder: Press the Horn button (or similar icon) to activate the panic alarm or locate your vehicle in a parking lot. The siren will sound, and lights will flash. Press again to stop.
- Trunk Release: Press and hold the Trunk button (or similar icon) for 3 seconds to activate the power trunk release (if connected and supported by your vehicle).
- Silent Arm/Disarm: Some systems allow for silent arming/disarming by pressing a specific button combination or holding the arm/disarm button for a longer duration. Refer to your specific wiring diagram for details.
Shock Sensor Adjustment:
The electronic shock sensor can be adjusted for sensitivity. Typically, this involves a dial or button on the sensor itself. Start with a medium setting and adjust as needed to prevent false alarms while ensuring adequate protection.
Maintenance
To ensure the longevity and optimal performance of your XO Vision DX382 Car Alarm System, follow these maintenance guidelines:
- Remote Battery Replacement: Replace remote control batteries annually or when the range decreases significantly. Use the specified battery type.
- Keep Remotes Dry: Avoid exposing remote controls to water or excessive moisture.
- Regular System Check: Periodically test the alarm system by triggering it (e.g., by gently shaking the vehicle after arming) to ensure the siren and lights activate correctly.
- Wiring Inspection: Annually, inspect all wiring connections for corrosion or loose contacts. Tighten or clean as necessary.
- Avoid Harsh Chemicals: Do not use harsh cleaning agents on the main unit or remotes. A soft, damp cloth is sufficient for cleaning.
Troubleshooting
If you encounter issues with your DX382 Car Alarm System, refer to the following common troubleshooting tips:
- Alarm Not Arming/Disarming: Check remote control battery. Ensure you are within range of the vehicle. Verify the main unit has power.
- False Alarms: Adjust the shock sensor sensitivity to a lower setting. Ensure all doors, trunk, and hood are securely closed. Check for loose wiring.
- Siren Not Sounding: Check siren wiring connections. Ensure the siren itself is not damaged. Verify the main unit is receiving power.
- Remote Range is Poor: Replace remote control battery. Ensure there are no major obstructions or strong radio interference sources.
- Vehicle Not Locking/Unlocking: Check wiring to door lock actuators. Ensure the vehicle's central locking system is functioning independently.
If problems persist after attempting these steps, contact a professional automotive electronics technician for assistance.
