  • Connect the brown wire to a fused 12V positive (+) power source (e.g., battery or distribution panel). A 3 Amp fuse is recommended.
  • Connect the black wire to a 12V negative (-) ground.
  • Ensure all connections are watertight and protected from corrosion.

3.3 Hose Connection

  • Connect a 19 mm (3/4 inch) bilge hose to the pump's outlet port.
  • Secure the hose with a marine-grade hose clamp to prevent leaks.
  • Route the hose upwards to a through-hull fitting, ensuring a continuous upward slope to prevent backflow.

The Attwood Sahara 4505-7 is an automatic bilge pump, meaning it will activate when water levels rise and deactivate when water is removed.

4.1 Automatic Mode

  • Once properly installed and wired, the pump will automatically turn on when the water level in the bilge rises sufficiently to activate the internal float switch.
  • The pump will continue to run until the water level drops below the float switch's activation point, at which time it will turn off.

4.2 Manual Test Function

To test the pump's functionality, use the manual test knob located on the side of the pump.

  1. Ensure power is supplied to the pump.
  2. Locate the white knob labeled "TURN TO TEST" on the side of the pump.
