1. Important Safety Instructions

  • Always wear eye protection that complies with ANSI Z87.1 when operating power tools.

3. Setup

3.1 Attaching Sandpaper

The sander uses 5-inch round sandpaper sheets with a hook and loop backing. Ensure the sandpaper has the correct hole pattern to align with the sanding pad for optimal dust extraction.

  1. Ensure the sander is unplugged from the power source.
  2. Align the holes on the sandpaper sheet with the holes on the sanding pad.
  3. Press the sandpaper firmly onto the pad to secure it. The hook and loop system will hold it in place.

3.2 Attaching the Dust Bag

The dust bag collects sanding debris, keeping your workspace cleaner. It features a quick-release mechanism for easy emptying.

  1. Locate the dust port at the rear of the sander.
  2. Align the dust bag connector with the dust port.
  3. Push and twist the dust bag onto the port until it locks securely in place. Ensure the locking tabs are engaged.

Alternatively, you can connect a shop vacuum hose to the dust port for enhanced dust extraction. Ensure the hose adapter fits securely.

4. Operating Instructions

4.1 Power On/Off

The sander is equipped with a sealed slide switch for easy operation.

  1. Plug the sander into a suitable 110V power outlet.
  2. To turn ON, slide the switch to the "I" position. The sander will start with a soft start.
  3. To turn OFF, slide the switch to the "O" position. The pad brake will quickly stop the sanding pad.

4.2 Variable Speed Control

Adjust the sanding speed using the electronic speed-control dial located on the side of the tool.

  • Rotate the dial to select the desired speed from 1 (lowest, 7,000 RPM) to 6 (highest, 12,000 RPM).
  • Lower speeds are suitable for fine finishing or delicate materials.
  • Higher speeds are ideal for rapid material removal.

4.3 Sanding Techniques

  • Always hold the sander firmly with both hands.
  • Start the sander before placing it on the workpiece.
  • Apply light, even pressure and move the sander in overlapping circular or back-and-forth motions. Avoid pressing too hard, as this can reduce sanding efficiency and damage the workpiece or sander.
  • For best results, sand with the grain of the wood when possible, especially during final passes.
  • Lift the sander from the workpiece before turning it off.

5. Maintenance

Regular maintenance ensures optimal performance and extends the life of your sander.

5.1 Cleaning the Dust Bag and Sander

  • Empty the dust bag frequently to maintain effective dust collection. To remove, twist and pull the bag from the dust port.
  • Clean the exterior of the sander with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners.
  • Periodically inspect the air vents for blockages and clear any debris to prevent overheating.

5.2 Sanding Pad Inspection

  • Regularly check the hook and loop backing pad for wear or damage. A worn pad may not hold sandpaper securely, affecting sanding performance.
  • Replace the sanding pad if it shows signs of excessive wear or damage.
