2. Safety Information

Important Safety Precautions:

• Ensure the shelving unit is placed on a level and stable surface.
• Do not exceed the maximum weight limit of 4000 pounds for the entire unit, or 1000 pounds per shelf (evenly distributed).
• For optimal stability, consider securing the unit to a wall, especially in high-traffic areas or if storing heavy items on upper shelves.
• Keep small children and pets away from the unit during assembly to prevent injury.
• Avoid climbing or hanging on the shelving unit.
• Distribute weight evenly across shelves to prevent tipping or structural strain.

The Black Anthracite finish shelving units are NSF certified for wet and dry environments, meeting strict public health and safety standards. Other Alera shelving units are NSF certified for dry environments.

4. Assembly Instructions

The Alera Wire Shelving unit features a snap-together design for quick and tool-free assembly. It can be configured as a single four-tier unit or two two-tier units.

4.1. Step-by-Step Assembly

1. Attach Floor Glides: Screw the adjustable floor glides into the bottom of the lower poles.
2. Connect Poles: Join the upper and lower poles by screwing them together.
3. Position Shelf Clips: Determine the desired height for your first shelf. Each pole has grooves at 1-inch increments. Snap two shelf clips around each pole at the same desired height, ensuring they are securely locked into a groove.

4. Install First Shelf: Carefully slide a wire shelf down over the poles until it rests securely on the installed shelf clips. Ensure all four corners of the shelf are properly seated on the clips.

5. Repeat for Remaining Shelves: Repeat steps 3 and 4 for the remaining three shelves, adjusting heights as needed.
6. Final Check: Once all shelves are installed, gently press down on each shelf to ensure it is firmly seated and stable. Adjust floor glides if necessary to level the unit.

4.2. Optional Caster Installation

For increased mobility, an optional 3-inch caster set (sold separately) can be installed. Replace the adjustable floor glides with the casters. Ensure locking casters are engaged when the unit is stationary.

• Environment: The Silver finish is suitable for dry environments. If you have a Black Anthracite unit, it is certified for both wet and dry environments.
