5. Operating Instructions
Follow these steps to create custom buttons using your We R Memory Keepers Button Press.
5.1. Prepare Your Design
- Design Creation: Create your desired design on paper, cardstock, or fabric. Ensure the design fits within the area of your chosen button size.
- Cut Design: Use the provided cutting inserts to precisely cut your design to the correct circular size required for the button. Place your design material under the cutting insert and press down firmly on the handle until the material is cut.

5.2. Assemble the Button
The button press operates in two stages, typically labeled 'A' and 'B' on the die inserts. Ensure the die is rotated to the correct position for each step.
- Position Die to 'A': Rotate the base die to position 'A'.
- Place Button Shell: Place one button shell (the metal front) into the 'A' side of the base die.
- Add Design and Mylar: Place your cut design on top of the button shell, followed by one mylar sheet.
- First Press: Swing the top press mechanism over the 'A' side. Press the handle down firmly and completely. This will secure the design and mylar to the button shell.
- Position Die to 'B': Rotate the base die to position 'B'.
- Place Pin Back: Place one pin back (the metal back with the pin) into the 'B' side of the base die. Ensure the pin is oriented correctly if you want a specific alignment for your button.
- Second Press: Swing the top press mechanism over the 'B' side. Press the handle down firmly and completely. This will crimp the button shell and pin back together, completing your button.
- Remove Button: Lift the handle and swing the top press mechanism away. Your finished button can now be removed from the 'B' side.

7. Troubleshooting
If you encounter issues while using your Button Press, refer to the following common problems and solutions:
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Button components do not crimp together properly. | Insufficient pressure applied to the handle; components not seated correctly; incorrect die size for components. | Ensure the handle is pressed down firmly and completely until it cannot go further. Verify that all button components are correctly placed and that the die is rotated to the correct 'A' or 'B' position. Confirm you are using the correct size components for your die. |
| Paper design is not cut cleanly. | Insufficient pressure applied to the handle; dull cutting insert; material too thick. | Press the handle down very firmly when using the cutting insert. Ensure the cutting insert is clean and free of obstructions. Use recommended materials (paper, cardstock, fabric) and avoid excessively thick materials. |
| Button gets stuck in the press. | Components misaligned; excess material. | Carefully check the alignment of all components before pressing. Ensure your cut design is not too large for the button shell. Gently wiggle the die to release the button. |
