3.2 Passive Speaker (Left)
The passive speaker connects to the active speaker and reproduces the audio signal without its own controls or power input.
4. Setup
Follow these steps to set up your Creative GigaWorks T20 Series II speaker system:
- Positioning the Speakers: Place the active (right) and passive (left) speakers on a stable surface, ideally equidistant from your listening position for optimal stereo imaging. Ensure adequate space around the speakers for proper sound dispersion.
- Connecting the Speakers: Connect the passive (left) speaker to the active (right) speaker using the integrated speaker cable. The cable connects to the dedicated port on the back of the active speaker.
- Connecting to Audio Source:
- For PC/Laptop/MP3 Player: Use the provided stereo cable (3.5mm jack) to connect the audio output of your device to the AUX In port on the front of the active speaker.
- For TV/DVD Player/Game Console: Use the provided RCA-to-Stereo Jack Adapter. Connect the RCA ends to the audio output (usually red and white ports) of your TV/DVD player/game console, and then connect the 3.5mm stereo jack end to the AUX In port on the front of the active speaker.
- Connecting Power: Connect the power adapter to the power input port on the back of the active speaker, then plug the power adapter into a wall outlet.
- Power On: Turn the Volume control knob clockwise until it clicks to power on the speakers. The blue LED ring around the volume knob will illuminate.

5. Operating Instructions
Once your speakers are set up, you can begin enjoying your audio. Use the front-panel controls for easy adjustments:
- Volume Control: Rotate the Volume knob clockwise to increase volume and counter-clockwise to decrease it. To turn off the speakers, rotate the knob counter-clockwise until it clicks.
- Bass Adjustment: Use the Bass knob to increase or decrease the low-frequency output. Adjust to your preference for richer bass.
- Treble Adjustment: Use the Treble knob to increase or decrease the high-frequency output. Adjust for clearer highs.
- Headphone Use: Plug your headphones into the headphone jack on the front panel. When headphones are connected, audio output from the speakers will automatically mute.
- AUX Input: The front AUX In jack allows for quick connection of portable audio devices without needing to access the rear connections.
Note on Sound Quality (Speaker Break-in): Some users report that the sound quality, particularly the midrange, improves after a period of "breaking in" the speakers. This involves playing audio through them for several hours. If you initially find the sound to be less balanced than expected, allow the speakers some time to break in before making final judgments on sound adjustments.
6. Maintenance
To ensure the longevity and optimal performance of your Creative GigaWorks T20 Series II speakers, follow these maintenance guidelines:
- Cleaning: Gently wipe the speaker surfaces with a soft, dry, lint-free cloth. For stubborn marks, slightly dampen the cloth with water. Avoid using abrasive cleaners, solvents, or strong chemicals, as these can damage the finish.
- Dust: Regularly dust the speaker grilles and surfaces to prevent dust buildup, which can affect sound quality and appearance.
- Placement: Avoid placing speakers in direct sunlight, near heat sources, or in areas with high humidity. Ensure good ventilation around the speakers.
- Handling: Handle the speakers with care. Avoid dropping them or subjecting them to strong impacts.
- Power Off: When not in use for extended periods, it is recommended to turn off the speakers using the volume knob and unplug the power adapter from the wall outlet.
7. Troubleshooting
If you encounter any issues with your Creative GigaWorks T20 Series II speakers, please refer to the following common problems and solutions:
- No Sound:
- Ensure the speakers are powered on (blue LED around volume knob is lit).
- Check that the volume knob is turned up.
- Verify all cables are securely connected: power adapter, speaker interconnect cable, and audio input cable from your source device.
- Ensure the audio source (PC, MP3 player, TV) is playing audio and its volume is turned up.
- If using headphones, unplug them from the front jack.
- Try connecting a different audio source to rule out an issue with your primary device.
- Distorted or Unclear Sound:
- Reduce the volume on both the speakers and your audio source. Overdriving the speakers can cause distortion.
- Adjust the Bass and Treble knobs to a neutral or lower setting.
- Ensure audio cables are not damaged or loosely connected.
- Check for interference from other electronic devices.
- As mentioned in Section 5, allow for speaker "break-in" time, especially for midrange clarity.
- Humming or Buzzing Noise:
- Ensure all connections are secure.
- Try plugging the power adapter into a different wall outlet.
- Move the speakers away from other electronic devices that might cause interference.
- If the noise persists, it might be a ground loop issue. Consider using a ground loop isolator if necessary.
If the problem persists after trying these solutions, please refer to the Warranty and Support section for further assistance.
