Setup

1. Connecting the Converter Box

  1. Connect Antenna: Connect your outdoor or indoor antenna to the ANT IN port on the back of the converter box.
  2. Connect to TV (Coaxial):
    • Use the supplied coaxial cable to connect the TO TV (Coaxial Out) port on the converter box to the ANTENNA IN or RF IN port on your analog television.
    • Set the CH3/CH4 switch on the back of the converter box to either channel 3 or 4. Tune your television to the corresponding channel (3 or 4).
  3. Connect to TV (RCA/Composite - Optional):
    • If your TV has RCA (Red/White/Yellow) inputs, you can use these for a potentially better picture quality. Connect the AUDIO/VIDEO OUT ports on the converter box to the corresponding AUDIO/VIDEO IN ports on your TV.
    • Select the correct input source (e.g., Video 1, AV, Input) on your TV using its remote control.
  4. Connect Power: Plug the power adapter into the DC IN port on the converter box, then plug the adapter into a standard electrical outlet.
  5. Insert Remote Batteries: Open the battery compartment on the remote control and insert two AAA batteries (not included).

2. Initial Channel Scan

After connecting the converter box, you must perform a channel scan to find available digital broadcasts.

  1. Turn on your television and the RCA DTA-800B1 converter box.
  2. Ensure your TV is tuned to the correct input (Channel 3/4 for coaxial, or AV input for RCA).
  3. Using the converter box remote, navigate to the MENU.
  4. Select CHANNEL SETUP or AUTO SCAN.
  5. Initiate the scan. The converter box will search for all available digital channels in your area. This process may take several minutes.
  6. Once the scan is complete, the converter box will save the channels, and you should be able to view digital broadcasts.
