Setup Guide

Setting Time and Date

  1. In Timekeeping Mode, hold down the ADJUST button until the city code starts to flash.
  2. Use the COMP and LIGHT buttons to select your desired city code.
  3. Press the MODE button to cycle through the settings: DST, 12/24-hour format, seconds, hour, minute, year, month, and day.
  4. Use the COMP and LIGHT buttons to change the flashing value.
  5. Once all settings are configured, press the ADJUST button to exit the setting screen.

Compass Calibration

For accurate compass readings, periodic calibration is recommended, especially after significant temperature changes or magnetic interference. Ensure you are away from strong magnetic sources (e.g., large metal objects, electronic devices) during calibration.

  1. Enter Compass Mode by pressing the COMP button.
  2. Hold down the ADJUST button until "CAL" appears and starts flashing.
  3. While "CAL" is flashing, slowly rotate the watch horizontally 360 degrees, keeping it level. The display will show "OK" upon successful calibration.
  4. For two-point calibration (for higher accuracy), refer to the detailed instructions in the full user manual available on the Casio website.

Temperature Reading Tips

The thermometer measures the temperature at the watch's sensor. To get an accurate ambient air temperature reading, remove the watch from your wrist and allow it to sit undisturbed for at least 20-30 minutes to equalize with the surrounding air temperature. Body heat can significantly affect the reading if worn on the wrist.

Operating Modes

Your Casio SGW100 watch features several modes accessible via the MODE button. The current time and day of the week are typically displayed in all modes for convenience.

Timekeeping Mode

This is the default mode, displaying the current time, day of the week, and date. Press the LIGHT button to illuminate the display in low-light conditions.

Digital Compass Mode

Press the COMP button to enter Digital Compass Mode. The watch will display the current direction in degrees and as a cardinal point (N, NE, E, etc.). The compass will perform continuous measurement for 10 seconds. For best results, hold the watch level and away from magnetic interference.

Thermometer Mode

While in Compass Mode, the temperature is displayed alongside the direction. Ensure the watch is off your wrist for accurate ambient temperature readings.

World Time Mode

From Timekeeping Mode, press the MODE button repeatedly until "WT" (World Time) appears. Use the COMP and LIGHT buttons to scroll through different city time zones. The watch supports Daylight Saving Time (DST) toggling for each city.

Stopwatch Mode

Access Stopwatch Mode via the MODE button. Use the COMP button to start/stop the stopwatch and the LIGHT button to reset. It supports elapsed time, split time, and two-finisher measurements.

Timer Mode

The countdown timer can be set for various durations. Once set, it will count down and emit an alarm when it reaches zero. The timer continues to operate even when viewing other modes.

Alarm Mode

The watch features five independent daily alarms and an hourly time signal. In Alarm Mode, use the COMP and LIGHT buttons to select and set individual alarms. A snooze function is available for one of the alarms.

Maintenance

Battery Replacement

The Casio SGW100 uses a CR2025 storage battery with an approximate life of 3 years. When the display becomes dim or functions become unreliable, it's time to replace the battery. Battery replacement should ideally be performed by a qualified technician to ensure water resistance is maintained.

Water Resistance

This watch is rated for 200-meter water resistance. To maintain this rating, ensure all buttons are not operated while the watch is submerged in water or wet. Avoid exposing the watch to extreme temperature changes (e.g., hot tubs, saunas) as this can compromise seals.

Cleaning

Wipe the watch with a soft, dry cloth. For resin bands, you can use a mild soap and water solution, then rinse thoroughly and dry. Avoid harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners.
