2. Safety Information

Please read all safety instructions carefully before using your pressure cooker. Failure to follow these instructions may result in injury or damage to the product.

• Never open the pressure cooker while it is under pressure. Ensure the pressure indicator has fully dropped before attempting to open the lid.
• Do not fill the pressure cooker beyond the maximum fill lines indicated inside the pot. Overfilling can lead to blockages and unsafe pressure levels.
• Always check that the sealing ring is correctly seated and undamaged before each use.
• Ensure the steam release valve and all safety mechanisms are clean and free from obstructions.
• Keep hands and face away from the steam release valve when pressure is being released.

4. Setup

4.1 First Use

1. Before first use, wash all parts of the pressure cooker (pot, lid, sealing ring, and handle) with warm soapy water. Rinse thoroughly and dry.
2. Inspect the sealing ring for any damage or deformation. Ensure it is correctly seated in the lid.
3. Ensure the maintenance-free valve system is clear.

4.2 Preparing for Cooking

• Place ingredients and the required amount of liquid into the pot.
• Observe the internal measuring scale. Do not exceed the maximum fill lines:
  • For most foods: Max 2/3 full.
  • For foods that expand (e.g., rice, pulses, dried vegetables): Max 1/2 full.
  • Minimum liquid: Always add at least 1/3 cup (approx. 80ml) of liquid.

5. Operating Instructions

5.1 Closing the Lid

1. Align the lid with the pot. The handle should be positioned over the pot handle.
2. Press the lid down firmly and slide the handle forward until it locks into place. You should hear a click, and the indicator on the handle will show 'locked' or 'zu'.
3. Ensure the lid is securely closed and cannot be rotated.

5.2 Cooking Process

1. Place the closed pressure cooker on a suitable hob (gas, electric, ceramic, induction).
2. Set the heat to high.
3. Observe the color-coded cooking indicator on the handle. As pressure builds, the indicator will rise.
4. Once the desired cooking level is reached (indicated by the colored rings), reduce the heat to maintain that level. The WMF Perfect Plus offers two fixed adjustable cooking settings:
   • First Ring (Yellow): Approximately 110°C (low pressure) for delicate foods like fish or vegetables.
   • Second Ring (Red): Approximately 119°C (high pressure) for robust foods like meat or stews.
5. Begin timing your cooking once the desired pressure level is reached.

5.3 Releasing Pressure and Opening

There are several methods to release pressure:

• Natural Release: Remove the cooker from the heat and allow it to cool down naturally. The pressure indicator will gradually drop. This method is ideal for foods that benefit from continued cooking, such as stews.
• Quick Release: For faster pressure release, carefully move the control lever on the handle to the steam release position. Steam will escape rapidly. Alternatively, you can run cold water over the edge of the lid (avoiding the valve) until the pressure indicator drops. This method is suitable for delicate foods to prevent overcooking.

Opening the Lid: Only open the lid once the pressure indicator has completely dropped and no steam is escaping. Slide the handle back to the 'open' position and lift the lid away from you to avoid residual steam.

6. Maintenance and Cleaning

Proper cleaning ensures the longevity and safe operation of your pressure cooker.

• Pot and Lid: The pot and lid (without the handle) are dishwasher safe. For best results, hand wash with warm soapy water.
• Lid Handle: The lid handle is removable for easy cleaning. Simply detach it and rinse under running water. Do not place the handle in the dishwasher.
• Sealing Ring: Remove the sealing ring after each use and wash it by hand with warm soapy water. Inspect it for cracks or damage. Replace the sealing ring annually or if signs of wear are visible.
• Valves: Ensure all valves and openings are clear of food particles. The valve system is designed to be maintenance-free, but occasional checks for blockages are recommended.
• Dry all parts thoroughly before reassembling and storing.

• Pressure not building or steam escaping from the lid edge:
  • Ensure the lid is correctly closed and locked.

• Pressure indicator not rising:

• Lid cannot be opened after cooking:
  • This indicates residual pressure. Do not force the lid open.
  • Allow the cooker to cool down further, or use the quick release method (if safe for the food) until the pressure indicator has fully dropped.
• Food is undercooked or overcooked:
  • Adjust cooking time and pressure level according to the food type and desired doneness.
  • Ensure the correct pressure level was maintained throughout the cooking process.
