Maintenance

1. Cleaning the Camera

  • Lens: Use a soft, lint-free cloth or a lens brush to gently remove dust. For smudges, use a specialized lens cleaning solution applied to a cloth, not directly to the lens.
  • LCD Screen: Wipe gently with a soft, dry cloth. Avoid pressing too hard.
  • Camera Body: Use a soft, dry cloth to wipe away dust and fingerprints. Do not use strong cleaning agents or solvents.

2. Battery Care

To maximize battery life and prevent potential damage from leakage, remove the AA batteries from the camera if it will not be used for an extended period. Always use fresh, high-quality alkaline or rechargeable AA batteries.

3. Storage

Store the camera in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight, high temperatures, and humidity. Use a camera case to protect it from dust and scratches.

Troubleshooting

  • Camera does not power on: Ensure batteries are correctly inserted and fully charged. Try new batteries.
  • Poor image quality: Check lens for smudges or dust. Ensure sufficient lighting. Select an appropriate shooting mode.
  • Battery drains quickly: This model is known to consume AA batteries relatively fast. Consider using high-capacity rechargeable AA batteries. Remove batteries when not in use.
  • Memory card error: Ensure the xD Picture Card is inserted correctly. Try formatting the card (this will erase all data). If the issue persists, the card may be faulty.
  • Camera freezes: Remove and reinsert the batteries to reset the camera.
