4. Setup
4.1 Physical Placement
Place the A-712 on a flat, stable surface or install it in a standard 19-inch equipment rack. Ensure adequate ventilation around the unit. Do not place the unit near heat sources or in direct sunlight. Maintain at least 10 cm (4 inches) of clear space on the top and sides for proper heat dissipation.
4.2 Rack Mounting
The TOA A-712 can be installed in a standard 19-inch equipment rack using the optional MB-25B Rack-Mount Kit. Attach the rack-mount brackets to the sides of the amplifier using the provided screws.

4.3 Connections
Before making any connections, ensure the amplifier is powered off and disconnected from the main power supply. Refer to the rear panel diagram for connection points.

- Input Connections:
- Mic/Line Inputs (1-6): Connect microphones or line-level sources using XLR or terminal block connectors. Each input has a trim control and phantom power switch.
- Auxiliary Inputs: Connect external audio devices (e.g., CD players, media players) to the RCA auxiliary inputs.
- Output Connections:
- Speaker Outputs: Connect speakers to the 70.7V, 25V, or 4 ohm terminals using the removable terminal block connector. Ensure correct impedance matching.
- Recording Output (Rec Out): Use this RCA output to connect to a recording device or an external booster amplifier.

5. Operating Instructions
5.1 Powering On/Off
To power on the unit, press the POWER button located on the front panel. The power indicator will illuminate. To power off, press the button again.

5.2 Input Level Adjustment
Adjust the individual input level controls (INPUT 1-6, INPUT 7, INPUT 8) on the front panel to achieve the desired balance between sources. Use the MIC TRIM controls on the rear panel for fine-tuning microphone input sensitivity.

5.3 Tone Controls
Use the BASS and TREBLE knobs on the front panel to adjust the overall tonal characteristics of the output sound. Turn clockwise to boost, counter-clockwise to cut.
5.4 Master Volume
The MASTER volume knob controls the overall output level of the amplifier. Adjust this control to set the final listening volume. Monitor the output level meter to prevent clipping (distortion).
5.5 Auto-Mute Function
The A-712 features a priority auto-mute function. Inputs can be assigned to activate or respond to the mute function using the DIP switches on the rear panel. Muting can also be activated via an external switch-closure.
