2. Safety Information

Always prioritize safety when installing, operating, or maintaining the sump pump. Failure to follow these safety guidelines may result in electric shock, fire, personal injury, or property damage.

  • Electrical Safety: Ensure the pump is connected to a properly grounded 120 Volt, 60 Hz GFCI (Ground Fault Circuit Interrupter) outlet. Do not remove the grounding prong from the power cord. Do not use extension cords.
  • Water and Electricity: Never handle the pump or its power cord with wet hands or while standing in water. Disconnect power before performing any maintenance or service.
  • Intended Use: This pump is designed for pumping clear water only. Do not use it for flammable liquids, corrosive chemicals, or sewage.
  • Children and Pets: Keep children and pets away from the sump pit and pump area.
  • Installation: Ensure the pump is installed securely and cannot tip over. All plumbing connections must be watertight.

3. Setup & Installation

Proper installation is crucial for the efficient operation of your sump pump.

3.1 Placement

  • Place the pump on a solid, level surface at the bottom of the sump pit. Ensure it is not resting directly on dirt or gravel, which could clog the intake.
  • The pump should be positioned so that the float switch can move freely without obstruction from the pit walls or other components.

3.2 Discharge Pipe Connection

  • Connect a 1-1/4 inch NPT discharge pipe to the pump's outlet. Use appropriate thread sealant for a watertight connection.
  • Install a check valve in the discharge line to prevent water from flowing back into the sump pit when the pump turns off. Position the check valve above the pump's discharge port.
  • Route the discharge pipe away from the foundation to prevent water from re-entering the sump pit.

3.3 Electrical Connection

  • Plug the 10-foot power cord into a dedicated 120 Volt, 60 Hz GFCI outlet.
  • Ensure the outlet is located in a dry area and is easily accessible.

3.4 Float Switch Adjustment

The pump features an adjustable vertical float switch for automatic operation.

  • The float switch determines the ON and OFF levels of the pump. Adjust the float rod to set the desired water levels.
  • Ensure there is sufficient space for the float to move freely between the ON and OFF positions without touching the sides of the sump pit.
  • The pump is designed to remove water down to 4 inches from the surface when the switch is installed.

4. Operating Instructions

The Superior Pump 92333 operates automatically via its adjustable vertical float switch.

  • When the water level in the sump pit rises and lifts the float switch to the 'ON' position, the pump will activate and begin to discharge water.
  • The pump will continue to run until the water level drops, allowing the float switch to fall to the 'OFF' position, at which point the pump will shut off.
  • Periodically check the sump pit to ensure the pump is operating correctly and the float switch is not obstructed.

4.1 Performance

This 1/3 HP pedestal sump pump offers powerful performance, with a maximum discharge rate of 3000 Gallons Per Hour (GPH) at 0 feet vertical lift and a maximum lift of 25 feet.

5. Maintenance

Regular maintenance ensures optimal performance and extends the life of your sump pump.

  • Monthly Inspection: Disconnect power to the pump. Remove any debris from the sump pit that could obstruct the float switch or pump intake.
  • Test Operation: Periodically fill the sump pit with water to ensure the pump activates and deactivates correctly.
  • Clean Intake Screen: The pump's intake screen should be kept clear of debris to prevent clogging.
  • Check Discharge Line: Ensure the discharge pipe is free of obstructions and that the check valve is functioning properly.
  • Winterization (if applicable): In areas prone to freezing, ensure the discharge line is sloped to drain completely or is disconnected and drained to prevent freezing.

6. Troubleshooting

Before attempting any repairs, always disconnect the pump from the power source.
