Introduction
The BOSS GE-7 Equalizer is a versatile 7-band graphic equalizer pedal designed for guitarists. It allows for precise tone sculpting, enabling users to refine their sound, enhance specific frequencies, and address common audio challenges such as feedback. The pedal features seven frequency bands, each with a +/-15dB adjustment range, and an independent level control for overall signal boost or cut.

Setup
Power Supply
The GE-7 can be powered by either a 9V alkaline battery (included) or an optional PSA-series AC adaptor (sold separately). Ensure the power source is correctly connected before operation.
Connections
Connect your guitar or other audio source to the INPUT jack. Connect the OUTPUT jack to your amplifier or the next pedal in your signal chain. Use standard 1/4-inch instrument cables for all connections.

Operating the GE-7
Controls Overview
The GE-7 features seven frequency band sliders and one master level slider. Each frequency slider adjusts the gain for its specific frequency band by +/-15dB. The Level slider controls the overall output volume of the pedal, also with a +/-15dB range.
- Frequency Sliders (100Hz, 200Hz, 400Hz, 800Hz, 1.6kHz, 3.2kHz, 6.4kHz): Adjust the boost or cut for each corresponding frequency band.
- Level Slider: Controls the overall output volume of the effect.
- Indicator: Lights up when the effect is active.

Tone Shaping Examples
The GE-7 offers extensive possibilities for tone shaping:
- Volume Boost: Boost your amp settings to enhance solos and lift choruses by increasing the Level slider and adjusting frequency bands as needed.
- Cocked Wah: Create a fixed wah-like sound by boosting specific mid-range frequencies (e.g., 800Hz or 1.6kHz) while cutting others.
- Humbucker to Single-Coil: Instantly shift tones from humbuckers into single-coil sounds by adjusting the frequency response to mimic the characteristics of single-coil pickups.

Maintenance
Battery Replacement
To replace the 9V battery, loosen the thumbscrew on the front of the pedal and open the pedal cover. Carefully remove the old battery and insert a new one, observing polarity. Close the cover and tighten the thumbscrew.
Cleaning
Wipe the pedal with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents, as they may damage the finish or internal components.
General Care
Store the pedal in a dry environment away from extreme temperatures and direct sunlight. Disconnect cables and remove the battery if the pedal will not be used for an extended period.
Troubleshooting
No Sound or Low Volume
- Check all cable connections. Ensure they are securely plugged into the correct input and output jacks.
- Verify the power supply. If using a battery, check its charge. If using an AC adaptor, ensure it is properly connected and functioning.
- Check the Level slider on the GE-7. Ensure it is not set to minimum.
- Bypass the pedal to see if the issue persists. If sound returns when bypassed, the issue is likely with the pedal's settings or power.
Unwanted Noise or Hum
- Ensure all cables are in good condition and properly shielded.
- Check for ground loops. Try powering the pedal from a different outlet or using an isolated power supply.
- Adjust the frequency sliders. Extreme boosts in certain frequency bands can introduce noise.
