Setup Guide
1. Battery Installation
Proper battery installation is crucial for the thermometer's operation. Ensure you use fresh batteries and follow the polarity markings inside the compartments.
- Transmitter Unit: Open the battery compartment on the wireless sensor (transmitter). Insert two (2) AAA batteries, observing the correct polarity. Close the compartment securely.
- Main Receiver Unit: Open the battery compartment on the main receiver unit. Insert two (2) AA batteries, observing the correct polarity. Close the compartment securely.
2. Initial Synchronization & Reset
After inserting batteries, a reset is required to ensure proper communication between the units. This process helps establish a stable wireless connection.
- After batteries are inserted into both units, press the RESET button on the transmitter unit.
- Immediately after, press the RESET button on the main receiver unit.
- Allow a few moments for the units to synchronize. The outdoor temperature reading should appear on the main unit's display.
Note: If synchronization fails, remove batteries from both units, wait 10 minutes for capacitors to discharge completely, then reinsert batteries and repeat the reset process.
Operating Instructions
1. Placing the Probe
Carefully insert the stainless steel probe into the thickest part of the meat, avoiding bone or gristle. Ensure the probe's tip is fully embedded for accurate temperature readings. Route the probe's wire out of the oven or grill, ensuring it is not pinched or exposed to direct flame.

2. Selecting Meat Type and Doneness
The main unit allows you to select from eight preset meat programs and four doneness levels.
- Press the MEAT button to cycle through the available meat types: Beef, Lamb, Veal, Hamburger, Pork, Turkey, Chicken, and Fish.
- Once your desired meat type is displayed, press the MODE button to cycle through the doneness options: Rare, Medium Rare, Medium, and Well Done.
- The display will show the target temperature for your selection.
3. Monitoring Temperature and Alerts
The main unit will continuously display the current internal temperature of the meat. When the meat approaches its target temperature, the unit will provide verbal and audio alerts.
- Verbal Alerts: The thermometer speaks in five languages (English, Spanish, German, French, Danish) to announce the status.
- Audio Alerts: Two verbal and three audio alert options indicate "almost ready," "ready," and "overcooked."
- When the target temperature is reached, an audio alarm will sound, and the unit will verbally announce "It's done."
4. Language Selection
Refer to the detailed operating instructions included in your package for specific steps on how to change the language settings.
Maintenance
1. Cleaning the Probe
The stainless steel probe detaches from the sensor for easy cleaning. Wipe the probe with a damp cloth and mild detergent after each use. Do not immerse the probe's wire or the transmitter unit in water.
2. Battery Replacement
The unit features a low-battery indicator. When the indicator appears, replace the batteries in both the main unit (2 AA) and the transmitter (2 AAA) to ensure continued accurate operation. Always replace all batteries at the same time.
3. Full Reset Process
If you experience persistent issues with synchronization or readings, perform a full reset:
- Remove the batteries from both the main unit and the transmitter.
- Wait for 10 minutes to allow any residual power in the capacitors to discharge completely.
- Place fresh batteries into the transmitter and immediately press its RESET button.
- Place fresh batteries into the receiver and immediately press its RESET button.
- The units should re-synchronize within a few minutes.
Troubleshooting
- No Temperature Reading / Dashes on Display:
- Ensure batteries are correctly installed with proper polarity in both units.
- Perform a full reset as described in the Maintenance section.
- Check if the probe is securely plugged into the transmitter.
- Verify the probe wire is not damaged or pinched.
- Inaccurate Temperature Readings:
- Ensure the probe is inserted into the thickest part of the meat, away from bone.
- Calibrate the thermometer if a calibration option is available (refer to the original operating instructions for details).
- Replace batteries in both units.
- No Wireless Signal:
- Ensure both units are within the 330-foot transmission range.
- Reduce obstacles between the transmitter and receiver (e.g., thick walls, metal objects).
- Perform a full reset as described in the Maintenance section.
- Verbal Alerts are Annoying:
- The unit typically has options to adjust alert volume or silence certain alerts. Refer to your original operating instructions for specific button functions related to audio settings.
