Safety Instructions
Always observe the following safety precautions when using the Sealey TP66 pump:
- Read and understand all instructions before operation.
- Wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), such as gloves and eye protection, when handling fluids.
- Ensure the pump is securely fitted to the drum before use to prevent spills.
- Do not use the pump with corrosive, flammable, or highly volatile liquids unless specifically stated as compatible.
- Keep the work area clean and well-ventilated.
- Store the pump in a clean, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
Setup
- Unpack Components: Carefully remove all components from the packaging. Verify that all parts are present: the pump body, lever handle, dip-tube, and anti-drip nozzle.
- Assemble Dip-Tube: Insert the dip-tube into the bottom of the pump body. Ensure it is securely fastened. For 100 or 205-liter drums, the standard dip-tube should be sufficient. An optional 1200mm dip-tube (Model No. TP66/ACC) is available for deeper drums.
- Attach Anti-Drip Nozzle: Screw the anti-drip nozzle onto the outlet spout of the pump. Hand-tighten to ensure a snug fit.
- Mount to Drum: Insert the assembled pump and dip-tube into the 2-inch BSP opening of the fluid drum. Rotate the pump body until the 2-inch BSP connector is firmly seated and secured to the drum opening.
- Prepare for Priming: Position a suitable receiving container under the anti-drip nozzle.
Operating Instructions
Follow these steps for effective fluid transfer:
- Priming the Pump: Before the first use or after the pump has been dry, operate the lever handle several times in full strokes. This action will draw fluid up the dip-tube and into the pump mechanism, initiating the self-priming process. Continue until fluid begins to flow consistently from the nozzle.
- Fluid Transfer: Once primed, operate the lever handle with smooth, full strokes. Each full stroke will discharge approximately 330ml of fluid. Maintain a steady rhythm for continuous flow.
- Monitoring Fluid Level: Periodically check the fluid level in the source drum to avoid running the pump dry, which can reduce efficiency and potentially damage the pump.
- Stopping Transfer: To stop the fluid transfer, cease operating the lever handle. The anti-drip nozzle is designed to minimize drips after pumping stops.
- Post-Operation: After use, if transferring different fluids or for long-term storage, consider flushing the pump with a compatible cleaning agent or the next fluid to be transferred.
Maintenance
Regular maintenance ensures the longevity and optimal performance of your Sealey TP66 pump:
- Cleaning: After each use, especially when transferring different types of fluids, it is recommended to flush the pump with a small amount of the new fluid or a compatible cleaning solution to prevent cross-contamination and residue buildup.
- Inspection: Periodically inspect the dip-tube, nozzle, and pump body for any signs of wear, cracks, or damage. Ensure all connections are tight and secure.
- Lubrication: While the pump is designed for low maintenance, occasional lubrication of the lever mechanism pivot points with a suitable lubricant can ensure smooth operation.
- Storage: When not in use, store the pump in a clean, dry environment, preferably indoors, to protect it from dust, dirt, and extreme temperatures. If storing for extended periods, ensure the pump is clean and dry.
