Setup

Follow these steps to set up your KVM switch:

  1. Mounting the KVM Switch:

    The TK-1603R is designed for standard 19-inch (1U) rack mounting. Use the included rackmount kit to secure the device in your server rack. Ensure adequate ventilation around the unit.

  2. Connecting Console Devices:

    Connect your keyboard, monitor, and mouse to the console ports on the rear of the KVM switch. The console supports both USB and PS/2 interfaces for keyboard and mouse, and VGA for the monitor.

    Connect each computer's VGA and USB ports to the corresponding PC ports on the KVM switch. The KVM switch has 16 dedicated ports for connecting up to 16 computers. Compatible KVM cables (e.g., TK-CU06, TK-CU10, TK-CU15) are sold separately.

  4. Power Connection:

    Connect the included 9V DC, 1A power adapter to the KVM switch's power input and then to a power outlet. The unit will power on automatically.

Operating the KVM Switch

The TK-1603R offers two primary methods for switching between connected computers:

1. Front Panel Push Buttons

Directly press the numbered buttons on the front panel of the KVM switch to select the corresponding computer. The LED indicators will show which computer is currently active (Green for selected, Red for online).

2. Hot-Key Switching

Use specific keyboard hot-key combinations to switch between computers. The default hot-key sequence is typically [Scroll Lock] + [Scroll Lock] + [Port Number]. Auto-Scan Function

The KVM switch features an auto-scan mode that automatically cycles through all connected computers, displaying each for a set duration. This is useful for monitoring multiple systems. Activate and deactivate auto-scan using specific hot-key commands (refer to the Quick Installation Guide).

Audible Feedback

The device provides an audible beep to confirm successful port switching. This feature can usually be enabled or disabled via hot-key commands.

Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your KVM switch, refer to the following common troubleshooting tips:
