Electronix Express EX Digital Satellite Finder Meter SF-95DR

Model: SF-95DR | Brand: EX ELECTRONIX EXPRESS

Product Overview

The Electronix Express EX Digital Satellite Finder Meter SF-95DR is a microprocessor-controlled device designed for reliable and accurate satellite signal detection. It is compatible with DirecTV, Dish Network, and Free-to-Air satellite systems. The unit features an LCD display with an optional backlight for clear signal strength indication and an audible buzzer that provides pitch tones for enhanced accuracy, with a higher tone indicating a stronger signal.

This manual provides detailed instructions for connecting, operating, and maintaining your SF-95DR Digital Satellite Finder.

What's in the Box

  • 1 x Digital Satellite Finder (SF-95DR)
  • 1 x Coaxial Cable (5-inch jumper cable)
  • 1 x Instruction Manual

Product Features

  • Reliable and accurate Digital Satellite finder with backlit LCD display and sound.
  • Compatible with DirecTV, Dish Network, and Free-to-Air satellite Systems.
  • Input Frequency: 950-2150 MHz.
  • Input Level Min: -40 dB, Input Level Max: -10 dB.
  • Operating Range (LNB gain): 52~60dB.

Setup and Connection

Follow these steps to properly connect your SF-95DR Digital Satellite Finder:

  1. Connect the Jumper Cable: Connect the provided jumper cable from the LNB (Low Noise Block) on your satellite dish to the port labeled "Satellite" on the digital satellite finder.

Operating Instructions

Once connected, follow these steps to operate your SF-95DR and align your satellite dish:

  1. Power On: Switch your satellite receiver on. The digital satellite finder will power on automatically as it draws power from the receiver.

  2. Initial Dish Alignment: Set your satellite dish to the proper azimuth and elevation settings. This information is typically provided with your satellite dish or can be found from your satellite service provider.

  3. Adjust Signal Strength: Adjust the dial on the side of the SF-95DR until the signal strength displays 0% (this is the critical starting point for fine-tuning).

  4. Peak the Signal: Slowly move the azimuth (horizontal) and elevation (vertical) of your satellite dish. Observe the signal strength display and listen to the audible buzzer. The higher the displayed values and the higher the buzzer pitch, the better the signal.

If the digital satellite finder's reading reaches full scale (100%), you can adjust the "ATT" (attenuation) buttons (◄ATT and ATT►) to reduce the incoming signal to a lower, more manageable level. Continue to move the dish until you achieve the highest possible meter reading and the highest possible buzzer pitch.

  5. Final Connection: Once the signal is peaked, remove the jumper cable and the digital satellite finder. Reconnect the LNB/LNBF directly to your satellite receiver.

Important Notes and Troubleshooting Tips

  • Avoid Continuous Full Scale Reading: To prevent the meter from continuously showing a full-scale reading, do not use the digital satellite finder directly in front of the satellite dish during initial setup. This can overload the meter.

  • LNB Gain Exceeding 60dB: When using an LNB with a gain higher than 60dB, it is crucial to insert a 5dB attenuator between the LNB/LNBF and the digital satellite finder. This prevents signal overload and ensures accurate readings.

  • No Power: Ensure your satellite receiver is powered on and providing power through the coaxial cable. The SF-95DR draws its power directly from the receiver.

  • No Signal Indication: Double-check all cable connections to ensure they are secure. Verify that your satellite dish is pointed in the general direction of the correct satellite.
