5. Installation
Tools Required: Adjustable wrench, plumber's putty or silicone sealant, screwdriver, flashlight.
- Prepare the Mounting Surface: Ensure the mounting surface (sink or countertop) is clean and free of debris. If replacing an old faucet, remove it and clean the area thoroughly.
- Apply Sealant: Apply a thin bead of plumber's putty or silicone sealant around the base of the faucet where it will meet the countertop. This creates a watertight seal.
- Position the Faucet: Insert the faucet body into the single mounting hole on the sink or countertop. Ensure the handle is oriented correctly.
- Secure the Faucet: From underneath the sink, place the rubber washer and then the metal washer over the threaded shank. Thread the mounting nut onto the shank and tighten it securely with an adjustable wrench. Do not overtighten, as this can damage the sink or faucet.
- Connect Water Supply: Connect the 1/2-14 NPS male inlet to your cold water supply line. Use thread sealant tape on the threads of the supply line connection for a secure seal. Tighten connections with an adjustable wrench. Ensure all connections are secure but do not overtighten.
- Test for Leaks: Slowly turn on the main water supply and check all connections for leaks. If leaks are detected, tighten the connections slightly until they stop.

6. Operation
The Central Brass 0286-AC faucet features a single handle for controlling cold water flow. To turn on the water, lift the handle. To turn off the water, push the handle down. The flow rate is regulated by a water-saving aerator located at the tip of the spout.
7. Maintenance
- Cleaning: Clean the chrome finish regularly with a soft cloth and mild soap and water. Avoid abrasive cleaners, scouring pads, or harsh chemicals, as these can damage the finish. Rinse thoroughly and dry with a soft cloth to prevent water spots and maintain the luster.
- Aerator Maintenance: If water flow decreases or becomes irregular, the aerator may be clogged with debris. Unscrew the aerator from the tip of the spout, clean any accumulated particles, and rinse it before reattaching.
8. Troubleshooting
- Low Water Flow:
- Check if the aerator is clogged. Clean or replace the aerator. Ensure the water supply valve to the faucet is fully open.
- Leaks at Faucet Base:
- Ensure the mounting nut underneath the sink is securely tightened. Verify that plumber's putty or silicone sealant was properly applied during installation to create a watertight seal.
- Leaks from Spout or Handle:
- Internal components such as O-rings or the ceramic stem may require inspection or replacement. For assistance with replacement parts, contact Central Brass customer support.
