- Electrical Safety: Always plug the unit into a properly grounded 3-prong outlet. Do not remove the grounding prong. Do not use with ungrounded adapters.

- Environmental Conditions: Do not expose the unit to rain or wet conditions. This product is intended for indoor or dry outdoor use.
- Cord Care: Inspect the cord for damage before each use. Do not use if the cord is frayed, cut, or damaged. Avoid pulling the cord sharply or kinking it.

3. Setup
3.1 Mounting the Reel
The Bayco SL-450 comes with mounting brackets for secure installation. Choose a sturdy location, such as a ceiling joist or wall stud, that can support the weight of the unit and the force of cord retraction. Ensure the mounting location allows for full extension and retraction of the 20-foot cord without obstruction.
- Position the reel at the desired mounting location.
- Mark the drilling points through the mounting holes on the reel bracket.
- Drill pilot holes if necessary, appropriate for your mounting hardware (not included).
- Securely fasten the reel to the surface using appropriate screws or bolts.
3.2 Bulb Installation
The incandescent bulb is not included with the unit.
- Ensure the unit is unplugged from any power source before installing the bulb.
- Unscrew the galvanized metal lamp shield by rotating it counter-clockwise.
- Carefully screw in an incandescent bulb, up to a maximum of 75 watts, into the socket. Do not overtighten.
- Reattach the metal lamp shield by rotating it clockwise until secure.
4. Operation
4.1 Extending and Retracting the Cord
To extend the cord, gently pull the light assembly away from the reel. The cord will lock at various intervals. To retract the cord, pull the light assembly slightly further out until you hear a click, then slowly guide the cord back into the reel. Do not release the cord abruptly, as this can cause damage to the retraction mechanism.

4.2 Using the Light
Once the unit is plugged into a grounded outlet and a bulb is installed, use the durable ON/OFF switch located on the handle of the light assembly to turn the light on or off.
4.3 Using the Grounded Receptacle
The light assembly includes a 7-amp grounded receptacle. This allows you to power other small tools or devices directly from the utility light. Ensure that the total current draw of any connected devices does not exceed 7 amps to prevent tripping the circuit breaker.
5. Maintenance
5.1 Cleaning
Always unplug the unit before cleaning. Wipe the exterior surfaces with a damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents. Ensure the unit is completely dry before plugging it back in.
5.2 Bulb Replacement
Refer to Section 3.2 for bulb installation instructions. Always ensure the unit is unplugged and the bulb has cooled down before attempting to replace it.
5.3 Cord Care
Periodically inspect the entire length of the cord for any signs of wear, cuts, or damage. If damage is found, discontinue use immediately and replace the unit. When retracting the cord, guide it gently to prevent tangling or binding within the reel mechanism.
