Key Features:

  • 240 Volts, 400 Amps
  • 3-Point (Three Phase)
  • NEMA 3R Enclosure (Rainproof, Sleet/Ice Proof)
  • Fusible design (fuses sold separately)
  • Heavy-duty construction for demanding applications

Installation and Setup

Pre-Installation Checklist:

  • Ensure the installation location is suitable for a NEMA 3R enclosure.
  • Verify that the voltage and current ratings of the switch match the application requirements.
  • Confirm availability of appropriate fuses (not included).
  • Gather necessary tools and personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Review local and national electrical codes (e.g., NEC).

Mounting Instructions:

  1. Select a sturdy, flat surface capable of supporting the switch's weight (approximately 183 pounds).
  2. Mark the mounting points using the switch's pre-drilled holes as a template.
  3. Securely fasten the switch to the mounting surface using appropriate hardware (e.g., lag bolts, anchor bolts). Ensure the switch is level and plumb.

Wiring Instructions:

  1. De-energize the power source: Before making any electrical connections, ensure that all upstream power sources are de-energized and locked out/tagged out.
  2. Open the switch enclosure door.
  3. Connect the incoming power conductors to the line side terminals. Ensure proper phase rotation if applicable.
  4. Connect the outgoing load conductors to the load side terminals.
  5. Install the appropriate fuses into the fuse clips. Refer to the switch's internal wiring diagram for correct fuse placement and rating.
  6. Connect the equipment grounding conductor to the designated ground lug within the enclosure.
  7. Verify all connections are tight and secure.
  8. Close and secure the enclosure door.

Operating Instructions

Turning the Switch ON:

  1. Ensure all safety precautions are observed.
  2. Verify that the switch handle is in the "OFF" position.
  3. Move the operating handle firmly from the "OFF" position to the "ON" position. A distinct click should be heard, indicating the contacts have closed.
  4. The switch is now energized, and power is supplied to the connected load.

Turning the Switch OFF:

  1. Ensure all safety precautions are observed, especially if working on the downstream equipment.
  2. Move the operating handle firmly from the "ON" position to the "OFF" position. This will open the contacts and de-energize the load.
  3. For maintenance or service, apply appropriate lockout/tagout procedures to prevent accidental re-energization.

Fuse Replacement:

WARNING: Risk of electric shock. Always de-energize the switch and verify zero voltage before replacing fuses.

  1. Turn the switch to the "OFF" position and apply lockout/tagout.
  2. Open the enclosure door.
  3. Carefully remove the blown fuse(s) using a fuse puller.
  4. Install new fuses of the exact same type and rating. Never use fuses with higher ratings than specified.
  5. Close and secure the enclosure door.
  6. Remove lockout/tagout and re-energize the switch.

Maintenance

Regular maintenance helps ensure the longevity and safe operation of your Square D H325NR safety switch. All maintenance should be performed by qualified personnel.

Recommended Maintenance Schedule:

  • Annually:
    • Inspect the enclosure for signs of damage, corrosion, or ingress of moisture/debris.
    • Check all electrical connections for tightness. Loose connections can cause overheating.
    • Clean the interior of the enclosure, removing any dust or foreign material.
    • Inspect the operating mechanism for smooth operation. Lubricate pivot points if necessary with a non-conductive lubricant.
    • Verify proper operation of the door interlock mechanism (if present).
  • As Needed:
    • Replace any damaged or corroded parts with genuine Square D replacement parts.
    • Clean external surfaces with a mild detergent and water. Avoid abrasive cleaners.

Note: Always de-energize the switch and follow lockout/tagout procedures before performing any maintenance inside the enclosure.
