4. Setup

4.1 Battery Installation

The Fluke T5-1000 requires 2 AAA batteries (included). To install, locate the battery compartment on the rear of the device, open it, insert the batteries observing polarity, and close the compartment securely.

4.2 Attaching Test Leads

Connect the red test lead to the 'V' or 'Ω' input and the black test lead to the 'COM' input. Ensure the detachable SlimReach probe tips are securely attached to the test leads.

5. Operating Instructions

5.1 Power On/Off

Rotate the central dial to the desired measurement function to power on the device. Turn the dial to 'OFF' to power off and conserve battery.

5.2 Voltage Measurement (AC/DC Automatic Selection)

Set the dial to 'V'. The tester automatically detects AC or DC voltage. Connect the probe tips to the circuit points you wish to measure. The reading will appear on the digital display.

5.3 Current Measurement (OpenJaw)

Set the dial to 'A'. Place the open jaw around a single conductor (wire) to measure AC current without breaking the circuit. The current reading will be displayed.

5.4 Resistance (Ohms) and Continuity

Set the dial to 'Ω'. For resistance, connect the probes across the component. For continuity, touch the probes to the two points you want to test; a beeper will sound if continuity is present.

5.5 Hold Function

Press the 'HOLD' button to freeze the current reading on the display. This is useful in tight spaces or when you need to record a reading after removing the probes. Press 'HOLD' again to release.
