Setup
Unpacking and Inspection
Carefully unpack your ADI21 unit. The package should contain one Acoustic Amp Modeler/Preamp/DI. Inspect the unit for any signs of damage during transit. If any damage is found, contact your dealer immediately.
Power Supply
The ADI21 can be powered by a 9V battery or an optional 9V DC power adapter. To conserve battery life, always disconnect the input cable when the unit is not in use.
- Battery Installation: Open the battery compartment on the underside of the unit. Connect a 9V battery (not included) to the battery clip and place it inside the compartment. Close the cover securely.
- DC Power Adapter: Connect an optional 9V DC power adapter (center negative) to the DC IN jack.
Connections
Connect your acoustic guitar to the INPUT jack. Use the OUTPUT jack to connect to your amplifier or other effects pedals. For direct recording or connection to a PA system, use the balanced DI OUTPUT (XLR) jack.

Initial Settings
For a starting point, set all tone controls (TREBLE, MID, BASS) to the 12 o'clock position. Set the LEVEL knob to a moderate level. The BLEND knob can be started at 12 o'clock. Adjust the PAD and GND LIFT switches as needed based on your signal and environment.

- TREBLE: Adjusts the high-frequency content of your sound. Turn clockwise for brighter tones, counter-clockwise for warmer, darker tones.
- MID: Controls the mid-range frequencies. This knob works in conjunction with the MID FREQ knob.
- BASS: Adjusts the low-frequency content. Turn clockwise for more bass, counter-clockwise to reduce boominess.
- LEVEL: Sets the overall output volume of the pedal.
- MID FREQ: Selects the specific mid-frequency point (from 200 Hz to 2 kHz) that the MID knob will affect. This is crucial for targeting and eliminating feedback frequencies.
- BLEND: Mixes the processed (modeled) signal with your original direct signal. Turn clockwise for more modeled sound, counter-clockwise for more direct sound.
- PAD Switch (-20dB): Engages a -20dB attenuation pad. Use this if your input signal is too hot and causing distortion.
- GND LIFT Switch: Lifts the ground connection of the DI output to eliminate ground loop hum.
- Foot Switch: Toggles the effect on/off. When the effect is active, the LED indicator will light up.
Usage Scenarios
- Acoustic Amp Modeling: Use the TREBLE, MID, BASS, and BLEND controls to sculpt your desired acoustic guitar tone. Experiment with the MID FREQ knob to find the sweet spot for your instrument.
- Direct Recording/PA: Connect the XLR DI OUTPUT directly to a mixing console or audio interface. Adjust the LEVEL and tone controls to achieve a balanced and clear signal.
- Feedback Control: If you experience feedback, use the MID FREQ knob to pinpoint the problematic frequency and then use the MID knob to cut that frequency. The BLEND control can also help manage feedback by reducing the amount of modeled signal.
Maintenance
- Cleaning: Use a soft, dry cloth to clean the unit. Do not use liquid cleaners or solvents.
- Storage: Store the ADI21 in a dry, cool environment away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
- Battery Replacement: If using battery power, replace the 9V battery when the LED indicator becomes dim or the sound quality degrades. Always remove the input cable when not in use to prevent battery drain.
Troubleshooting
