Setup and Battery Installation
Battery Installation
- The thermometer comes with one CR1632 Lithium Ion battery pre-installed.
- To replace the battery, locate the battery cover on the back of the unit.
- Use a small flathead screwdriver or a long fingernail to unscrew the battery cover.
- Remove the old battery and insert a new CR1632 battery with the positive (+) side facing up.
- Securely replace the battery cover.
Note: If the display shows partial numbers or ghosted digits, it may indicate a low battery. Replacing the battery should resolve this issue.
Preparation for Use
Before taking a temperature, ensure the thermometer tip is at room temperature. If the metal tip is cold, gently warm it between your fingers or in the palm of your hand before turning the device on and taking a reading. This helps ensure consistent and accurate measurements.
Operating Instructions
Taking a Temperature
- Press the power button to turn on the thermometer. The display will show the last recorded temperature briefly, then a blinking '°F' (or '°C' if applicable) indicating it's ready.
- Position the thermometer according to the desired measurement method:
- Oral Use: Place the tip well under the tongue. Close mouth and hold the thermometer in place.
- Rectal Use (for infants/babies): Apply a water-soluble lubricant to the tip. Gently insert the tip no more than 1/2 inch into the rectum.
- Underarm (Axillary) Use: Place the tip in the armpit so the tip touches the skin. Hold the arm firmly against the body.
- Hold the thermometer steady until you hear a continuous beeping sound, indicating the measurement is complete (approximately 8 seconds).
- Remove the thermometer and read the temperature displayed on the screen.

Understanding Fever InSight
The Fever InSight feature provides a color-coded backlight to help interpret temperature readings quickly:
- Green Display: Indicates a normal temperature.
- Yellow Display: Signifies an elevated temperature (mild fever).
- Red Display: Indicates a high temperature (high fever).

Image: A graphic illustrating the Fever InSight color codes: green for normal temperature (e.g., 98.6°F), yellow for mild fever (e.g., 99.9°F), and red for high fever (e.g., 101.5°F).
Memory Function
When the thermometer is turned on, it will briefly display the last temperature reading taken before showing the ready-to-measure indicator.

Cleaning Instructions
To clean the thermometer:
- Wash the thermometer with soap and warm water.
- Alternatively, wipe it with rubbing alcohol (70% isopropyl alcohol).
- Wipe dry with a soft cloth.
