Setup and Installation
Follow these steps to set up your Snom 300 IP Phone:
- Connect the Handset: Plug the coiled handset cord into the port labeled with a handset icon on the side of the phone base.
- Connect to Network/Power:
- Using Power over Ethernet (PoE): Connect an Ethernet cable from your PoE-enabled network switch or router to the LAN port on the back of the phone. The phone will power on automatically.
- Using a Power Adapter (Sold Separately): If PoE is not available, connect a compatible power adapter (not included) to the power input port on the back of the phone, then connect an Ethernet cable from your network to the LAN port.
- Initial Boot-up: The phone will power on and attempt to obtain an IP address via DHCP. The display will show the boot-up progress.
- Web Interface Access: Once the phone has an IP address, you can access its web-based configuration interface by entering the phone's IP address into a web browser on a computer connected to the same network. The IP address is typically displayed on the phone's screen or can be found in the phone's network settings menu.
- SIP Account Configuration: Log in to the web interface (default credentials are often admin/password or similar, refer to Snom documentation for specifics). Navigate to the SIP Identity settings to configure your VoIP provider's account details (SIP server, username, password, etc.). The Snom 300 supports up to 4 SIP identities.
Operating Instructions

Making and Receiving Calls
- To Make a Call: Lift the handset, dial the number, and press the Dial button or wait for automatic dialing. Alternatively, press the Speakerphone button, dial, and press Dial.
- To Answer a Call: Lift the handset or press the Speakerphone button when the phone rings.
- To End a Call: Replace the handset or press the End Call button.
Call Features
- Hold: During a call, press the Hold button. Press it again to resume the call.
- Transfer: During a call, press the Transfer button. Dial the number to transfer to, then press Transfer again for a blind transfer, or wait for the party to answer and then press Transfer for an attended transfer.
- Conference: During a call, press the Conference button. Dial the second party's number. Once connected, press Conference again to join all parties. The Snom 300 supports a 3-way conference bridge on the phone.
- Do Not Disturb (DND): Press the DND button to activate/deactivate. When active, incoming calls will be redirected or sent to voicemail.
- Speakerphone: Press the Speakerphone button to toggle between handset and speakerphone mode.
- Headset: Connect a compatible headset to the dedicated headset port. Press the Headset button to switch audio to the headset.
Programmable Function Keys
The Snom 300 features 6 programmable function keys with LEDs. These can be configured via the web interface for various functions such as speed dial, busy lamp field (BLF), line appearance, or custom features provided by your VoIP system.
Address Book and Call Lists
- Address Book: Access the internal address book (up to 100 entries) to store frequently called numbers.
- Call Lists: View lists of missed, received, and dialed calls (up to 100 entries each) using the navigation keys and display.
Maintenance
- Cleaning: Use a soft, dry cloth to clean the phone's surface. For stubborn marks, a slightly damp cloth with mild soap can be used, ensuring no liquid enters the phone. Avoid abrasive cleaners or solvents.
