4.2. Locking the Padlock
- With the shackle open, position the padlock around the item(s) to be secured.

- Remove the key if it was used to close the shackle (some models allow shackle closure without the key inserted).
5. Maintenance
Regular maintenance helps ensure the longevity and smooth operation of your padlock.
- Lubrication: Periodically apply a small amount of graphite-based lubricant or a silicone spray into the keyway and around the shackle openings. Avoid oil-based lubricants as they can attract dirt and dust.
- Cleaning: Keep the keyway free of debris. If the key becomes difficult to insert or turn, use compressed air to clear any obstructions.
- Key Care: Store spare keys in a safe, accessible location. Avoid bending or damaging the keys.
6. Troubleshooting
6.1. Key is Difficult to Insert or Turn
- Check for debris in the keyway. Use compressed air to clear it.
- Apply a small amount of graphite lubricant into the keyway.
- Ensure the key is not bent or damaged. Try a spare key if available.
6.2. Shackle Does Not Open or Close Smoothly
- Ensure the key is fully inserted and turned completely.
- Lubricate the shackle mechanism where it enters the padlock body.
- Check for any physical obstructions or damage to the shackle or padlock body.
