Safety Information
- Power Supply: Before connecting the unit, ensure that the voltage in your area matches the voltage requirements printed on the unit's rear panel (e.g., AC 120 V, 60 Hz for North American models; AC 230 V, 50 Hz for other models).
- Ventilation: Ensure adequate ventilation around the unit to prevent overheating. Do not block ventilation openings.
- Moisture: Keep the unit away from water or excessive moisture.
- Placement: Place the unit on a stable, level surface. Avoid placing it near heat sources or in direct sunlight.
Setup
1. Unpacking
Carefully remove the DX-C390 from its packaging. Verify that all accessories are present, including the remote control and 2 x AA/R6 batteries.
2. Remote Control Battery Installation
Open the battery compartment on the back of the remote control. Insert the two supplied AA/R6 batteries, ensuring correct polarity (+/-). Close the compartment securely.

3. Audio Connections
Connect the DX-C390 to your amplifier or receiver using one of the following methods:
- Analog Audio Output (RCA): Use RCA cables to connect the L/R analog audio outputs on the DX-C390 to the corresponding analog audio inputs on your amplifier/receiver.
- Digital Audio Output (Coaxial/Optical): For digital audio transmission, connect either the coaxial or optical digital output on the DX-C390 to a digital input on your amplifier/receiver.
4. Power Connection
After all audio connections are made, plug the power cord of the DX-C390 into an appropriate AC outlet.
Operating Instructions
1. Power On/Off
- Press the STANDBY/ON button on the front panel or the remote control to turn the unit on or off.
2. Loading Discs
The DX-C390 features a 6-disc carousel changer. You can load up to 6 discs simultaneously.
- Press the OPEN/CLOSE button to open the disc tray.
- Place discs onto the numbered trays with the label side facing up.
- To load multiple discs, press the DISC SKIP button to rotate the carousel and expose the next empty tray.
- Press the OPEN/CLOSE button again to close the disc tray.

3. Playing Discs
- After loading discs, the unit will read the discs.
- Press the PLAY/PAUSE button to start playback.
- To select a specific disc, press the corresponding numbered DISC SELECT button (1-6) on the front panel or remote.
- To skip tracks, use the SKIP buttons (◀◀ / ▶▶) on the front panel or remote.
- To pause playback, press PLAY/PAUSE. Press again to resume.
- To stop playback, press the STOP button.
4. PlayXchange Feature
The PlayXchange feature allows you to change up to 5 discs while the sixth disc is still playing, ensuring uninterrupted music.
- While a disc is playing, press the PLAYXCHANGE button. The disc tray will open, allowing access to the non-playing disc slots.
- Replace or add discs as desired.
- Press PLAYXCHANGE again to close the tray and continue playback.
5. Playback Modes
- Repeat: Press the REPEAT button to cycle through repeat modes (e.g., All Discs, Entire Disc, Random Tracks, Memory Tracks, Single Folder, Single Track).
- Random: Press the RANDOM button to play tracks in a random order across all loaded discs.
- 40-Track Programming: Refer to the detailed instructions in the full manual for programming specific track sequences.
6. Display and Dimmer Functions
- Press the DISPLAY button to change the information shown on the front panel display (e.g., track time, total time).
- Press the DIMMER button to adjust the brightness of the front panel display.
7. USB Playback
The unit supports playback of MP3 files from a USB thumb drive.
- Insert a USB drive containing MP3 files into the USB port on the front panel.
- Use the CD/USB button to switch to USB mode.
- Use the track and folder navigation buttons to select and play files.
Maintenance
1. Cleaning the Unit
- Wipe the exterior of the unit with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.
- For stubborn dirt, lightly dampen the cloth with water or a mild, non-abrasive cleaning solution.
2. Disc Handling
- Always handle discs by their edges to avoid fingerprints and scratches.
- Clean discs with a soft, lint-free cloth, wiping from the center outwards.
Troubleshooting
If you experience issues with your DX-C390, consult the following common problems and solutions:
- No Power: Ensure the power cord is securely plugged into the unit and the AC outlet. Check if the STANDBY/ON button is pressed.
- No Sound: Verify that the audio cables are correctly connected to your amplifier/receiver and that the correct input is selected on your amplifier/receiver. Check the volume level on your amplifier/receiver.
- Disc Not Playing/Skipping: Ensure the disc is clean and free of scratches. Make sure the disc is loaded correctly in the tray. Try a different disc to rule out a faulty disc.
- Remote Control Not Working: Check if the batteries are inserted correctly and are not depleted. Ensure there are no obstructions between the remote and the unit's sensor.
