Setup and Installation
Before beginning installation, ensure you have all necessary tools and components. It is recommended to wear safety glasses during installation. Refer to the included installation instructions for detailed diagrams and specific steps for your model.
Tools Recommended:
- Safety Glasses
- Scissors (if needed for hose corral sleeve)
- Adjustable Wrench (for water supply connections)
- Phillips Head Screwdriver
- Basin Wrench (for tightening mounting nut)
Pre-Installation Steps:
- Turn off the main water supply to your kitchen sink.
- Clear the area under the sink to allow for easy access.
- Remove your old faucet, if applicable.
Installing the Hose Corral (Optional but Recommended):
A hose corral is used to prevent the pullout hose weight from getting caught on the sink drain or other under-sink plumbing, ensuring proper function of the pull-down system. This is particularly useful in tight under-sink spaces.
Video 1: Moen Guided Installation - Installing Hose Corral. This video demonstrates how to install the hose corral to ensure smooth operation of your pull-down faucet hose.
- Attach Clip: Locate the stationary portion of the pull-down hose, just above the quick connect system. Snap the provided blue clip onto this section of the hose.
- Install Sleeve: Slide the clear plastic sleeve over the pull-down hose and its weight. Guide the sleeve upwards until the hole in the sleeve aligns with and covers the blue clip. Pull down gently to secure the sleeve in place.
- Adjust Sleeve Length (if needed): If the sleeve is too long or interferes with other components, you may carefully shorten its length using scissors along the indicated cut lines.
Faucet Installation (General Steps):
- Insert the faucet body into the desired mounting hole on your sink or countertop. If using the escutcheon for a three-hole sink, place it before inserting the faucet.
- From underneath the sink, secure the faucet using the provided mounting hardware. Ensure the faucet is properly aligned before fully tightening.
- Connect the hot and cold water supply lines to the corresponding connections on the faucet using the Hydrolock system. Listen for an audible click to confirm a secure connection.
- Connect the pullout hose to the quick connect system.
- Attach the hose weight to the pullout hose at the recommended position (refer to your specific installation guide for exact placement).
- Once all connections are secure, slowly turn on the main water supply and check for leaks.
Operating Instructions
Your Moen Extensa faucet is designed for intuitive and efficient operation.
Water Flow and Temperature Control:
- To Turn On/Off: Lift the single lever handle to turn on the water. Push down to turn off.
- Temperature Adjustment: Move the handle to the left for hot water and to the right for cold water. The 100-degree arc of handle travel allows for precise temperature blending.
- Flow Rate: The faucet delivers water at a maximum flow rate of 1.5 gallons per minute (gpm).
Pullout Spout Operation:
- Extending the Spout: Gently pull the spray wand from the main faucet body. The flexible hose allows for extended reach within and around your sink.
- Spray Mode Selection: The spray wand features a button to switch between aerated stream and powerful rinse spray modes. Press the button to toggle between these functions.
- Retracting the Spout: When finished, guide the spray wand back into the faucet body. The hose weight will assist in retracting the wand smoothly into its docked position.

Maintenance
Regular maintenance will help preserve the finish and functionality of your Moen faucet.
- Cleaning the Finish: Clean the chrome finish with a soft, damp cloth and mild soap. Avoid abrasive cleaners, polishes, or waxes, as these can damage the finish.
- Aerator Cleaning: If water flow becomes restricted, the aerator may be clogged. Unscrew the aerator from the end of the spout, clean any debris, and reattach.
- Hose and Weight Check: Periodically check the pullout hose and weight under the sink to ensure they are free from obstructions and move smoothly. The hose corral, if installed, should keep the hose clear.
- Leak Checks: Regularly inspect connections under the sink for any signs of leaks. Tighten connections if necessary, but do not overtighten.
