Model: FP0S1775A

1. Product Overview

The Flotec FP0S1775A IntelliPump is a 1/4-HP, 115-Volt electronic-controlled submersible utility pump designed for efficient water removal from shallow flooded areas. This innovative pump automatically activates upon water detection and deactivates once water levels are reduced, making it ideal for basements, rooftops, and window wells. Its engineered resin construction provides corrosion resistance, ensuring durability.

Key Features:

  • Automatic operation: Starts when water is detected above 3/4 inch and stops when water is pumped down to 1/4 inch.
  • High capacity: Maximum output of 1800 gallons per hour (GPH) with a 22-foot max lift.
  • Durable construction: Engineered resin resists corrosion.
  • Convenient discharge: Connects to an ordinary 5/8-inch garden hose.
  • Includes a 15-foot power cord and garden hose adapter.

2. Safety Information

Read all instructions carefully before installation and operation. Failure to follow these instructions may result in electric shock, fire, serious injury, or death.

  • Electrical Safety: Always disconnect power before servicing the pump. Ensure the pump is connected to a properly grounded 115-Volt AC outlet. Do not use extension cords.
  • Water and Electrical: Never operate the pump with damaged cords or if the pump is not fully submerged as intended. Avoid direct contact with water while the pump is plugged in.
  • Intended Use: This pump is designed for clear water removal. Do not use for flammable liquids, sewage, or water containing large debris.
  • Children and Pets: Keep children and pets away from the pump and any standing water during operation.
  • Proposition 65 Warning: This product may contain chemicals known to the State of California to cause cancer, birth defects, or other reproductive harm. Wash hands after handling.

4. Setup and Installation

Proper setup ensures optimal performance and safety.

  1. Placement: Position the pump on a stable, level surface in the area requiring dewatering. Ensure the pump is upright and not obstructed. The pump is suitable for shallow flooded areas such as basements, rooftops, and window wells.
  2. Discharge Hose Connection: Attach a standard 5/8-inch garden hose to the pump's discharge port using the provided garden hose adapter. Ensure the connection is secure to prevent leaks. Route the discharge hose to a suitable drainage area, ensuring the water is directed away from the area being dewatered and does not create a new flooding hazard.
  3. Check Valve (Optional but Recommended): For applications where the pump is lifting water vertically, installing a check valve in the discharge line is recommended. A check valve prevents water from flowing back into the area once the pump shuts off, reducing wear on the pump and preventing re-flooding.
  4. Power Connection: Plug the 15-foot power cord into a grounded 115-Volt AC electrical outlet. Ensure the outlet is protected by a Ground Fault Circuit Interrupter (GFCI) for added safety, especially in wet environments.

5. Operation

The Flotec IntelliPump features automatic operation for convenience.

  1. Automatic Activation: Once plugged in and placed in water, the pump will periodically check for water presence. This check occurs approximately every 2-1/2 minutes.
  2. Pumping Cycle: If water is detected above approximately 3/4 inch, the pump will automatically activate and begin pumping. It will continue to operate until the water level is reduced to approximately 1/4 inch, at which point it will shut off.
  3. Continuous Monitoring: The pump will then resume its 2-1/2 minute monitoring cycle, ready to activate again if water levels rise.
  4. Performance: The pump can achieve a maximum flow rate of 1800 GPH and a maximum lifting height of 22 feet.

Note: The pump's automatic cycling is a normal function. The pump may briefly turn on and off even if no water is present during its monitoring phase.

6. Maintenance

Regular maintenance ensures the longevity and efficient operation of your IntelliPump.

  • Cleaning: Periodically inspect the pump intake screen for debris such as leaves, dirt, or small stones. Unplug the pump before cleaning. Remove any obstructions to ensure unrestricted water flow.
  • Storage: If storing the pump for an extended period, clean it thoroughly and allow it to dry completely. Store in a dry, frost-free location.
  • Corrosion: The pump features engineered resin construction designed to resist corrosion. However, avoid exposing the pump to harsh chemicals or corrosive liquids.
  • Power Cord: Regularly inspect the power cord for any signs of damage, cuts, or fraying. If damaged, do not use the pump and contact customer support.

7. Troubleshooting

If your pump is not operating correctly, refer to the following common issues and solutions.

ProblemPossible CauseSolution
Pump does not startNo power; Water level too low; Clogged intakeCheck power connection and GFCI; Ensure water level is above 3/4 inch; Unplug and clear intake screen.
Pump runs but no water pumpsAir lock; Clogged discharge hose; Water level too lowLift and lower pump to release air; Check hose for kinks or blockages; Ensure water level is sufficient.
Pump cycles on and off frequentlyWater level fluctuating; Check valve neededThis can be normal for the IntelliPump's monitoring cycle. If excessive, consider installing a check valve to prevent backflow.
Reduced pumping capacityClogged intake screen; Kinked or undersized discharge hoseUnplug and clean intake screen; Ensure discharge hose is 5/8-inch and free of kinks.
