Setup

Battery Installation:

The Fluke 1AC II VoltAlert comes with two AAA alkaline batteries pre-installed. To replace batteries or ensure proper installation:

1. Twist the cap at the end of the tester counter-clockwise to remove it.
2. Insert two AAA batteries, ensuring correct polarity (+/-).
3. Replace the cap by twisting it clockwise until secure.

Initial Self-Test:

Before each use, perform a self-test to confirm the tester is functioning correctly:

1. Press the power button (green button) on the side of the tester. The tip should flash red and the unit should beep.
2. If the tip does not flash or the unit does not beep, replace the batteries. If the issue persists, the unit may be faulty.

Operating Instructions

Basic Voltage Detection:

1. Ensure the tester is powered on and has passed its self-test.
2. Touch the tip of the VoltAlert tester to the terminal strip, outlet slot, or power cord you wish to test.
3. If AC voltage is present, the tip will glow red and the unit will emit an audible beeping sound.

Audible/Silent Mode:

The tester features an audible/silent mode for convenience:

• To toggle between audible and silent mode, press and hold the power button for approximately 2 seconds while the unit is on.
• In silent mode, the tip will still glow red when voltage is detected, but no audible beep will be emitted.

Voltage Range:

The Fluke 1AC II VoltAlert is designed to detect line voltage within a range of 90 V to 1000 V AC. Some specific models may have a range of 200 V to 1000 V AC.

Maintenance

Battery Replacement:

When the self-test fails or the indicator light becomes dim, it's time to replace the batteries. Follow the steps outlined in the "Battery Installation" section under Setup.

Cleaning:

Wipe the exterior of the tester with a damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.

Troubleshooting

• No Indication: Ensure batteries are fresh and correctly installed. Perform the self-test.
