1. Product Overview

The Motorola H500 is a compact and lightweight Bluetooth wireless headset designed for hands-free communication. It offers extended talk and standby times, making it suitable for daily use. The headset features a multi-function button for call control and an adjustable earhook for comfortable wear on either ear.

2. Setup

2.1 Charging the Headset

Before initial use, fully charge your Motorola H500 headset. Use the provided miniUSB charging cable.

  1. Connect the small end of the miniUSB cable to the charging port on the headset.
  2. Connect the other end of the cable to a compatible USB power source (e.g., a wall adapter or computer USB port).
  3. The LED indicator on the headset will illuminate to show charging status. Refer to the LED indicator section for details.
  4. Once fully charged, disconnect the cable.

2.2 Pairing with a Device

The headset must be paired with your Bluetooth-enabled phone or device before it can be used for calls.

  1. Ensure the headset is turned off.
  2. Press and hold the Multi-function button on the headset for approximately 5-7 seconds until the blue LED indicator turns on and remains steadily lit. This indicates the headset is in pairing mode.
  3. On your Bluetooth-enabled phone, navigate to the Bluetooth settings and enable Bluetooth.
  4. Search for new devices. The phone should detect "Motorola H500" or a similar name.
  5. Select the headset from the list of found devices.
  6. If prompted for a passkey or PIN, enter 0000 (four zeros).
  7. Once paired, the headset's blue LED will flash intermittently, indicating a successful connection.

Note: Pairing is typically a one-time process. The headset will automatically connect to the last paired device when turned on and within range.

2.3 Wearing the Headset

The H500 features an adjustable earhook that can be worn on either the left or right ear.

  • Gently adjust the earhook to fit comfortably over your ear.
  • The earhook can be removed and flipped to switch between left and right ear usage. When flipped, the volume buttons automatically reconfigure so the 'up' volume is always on top.

3. Operating Instructions

3.1 Power On/Off

  • To Power On: Press and hold the Multi-function button until the blue LED flashes.
  • To Power Off: Press and hold the Multi-function button until the blue LED turns off.

3.2 Call Management

  • Answer a Call: Press the Multi-function button once.
  • End a Call: Press the Multi-function button once during an active call.
  • Reject a Call: Press and hold the Multi-function button for approximately 2 seconds when a call is incoming.
  • Make a Call: Dial the number on your phone. The call will automatically transfer to the headset if connected.
  • Voice Dial (if supported by phone): Briefly press the Multi-function button when not on a call.
  • Redial Last Number (if supported by phone): Double-press the Multi-function button when not on a call.

3.3 Volume Control

Use the dedicated Volume Up and Volume Down buttons on the side of the headset to adjust the call volume.

3.4 Mute Function

During an active call, press both Volume Up and Volume Down buttons simultaneously to mute or unmute your microphone.

3.5 LED Indicator Behavior

  • Solid Blue: Pairing mode.
  • Slow Blue Flash: Connected and in standby.
  • Rapid Blue Flash: Incoming call or active call.
  • Red: Low battery.
  • Solid Red (while charging): Charging in progress.
  • No Light (while charging): Charging complete.
  • The blue LED can be turned off during use if desired (refer to your phone's Bluetooth settings or headset advanced features if available).

4. Maintenance

4.1 Cleaning

  • Wipe the headset with a soft, dry, or slightly damp cloth.
  • Do not use harsh chemicals, cleaning solvents, or strong detergents.
  • Avoid getting moisture into any openings.

4.2 Battery Care

  • Store the headset in a cool, dry place away from extreme temperatures.
  • Avoid fully discharging the battery for extended periods. Charge regularly to maintain battery health.
  • Do not attempt to replace the battery yourself. Contact authorized service personnel.

5. Troubleshooting

  • Re-pair the headset with your phone.
