4. Setup

4.1 Unpacking and Assembly

  1. Carefully remove all components from the packaging. Retain packaging for future transport or storage.
  2. Place the turntable on a stable, level surface.
  3. Install the platter onto the turntable spindle. Ensure the drive belt is correctly positioned around the motor pulley.
  4. Attach the tonearm counterweight to the rear of the tonearm. Adjust it according to the quick-start guide for proper tracking force.
  5. Ensure the cartridge with stylus is securely mounted on the headshell.

4.2 Connections

  1. Power Connection: Connect the power adapter to the turntable's power input and then to a wall outlet.
  2. Audio Connection (to Stereo): Use the supplied RCA cable to connect the turntable's line-level outputs to an available auxiliary (AUX) or CD input on your stereo system. No phono input is required.
  3. USB Connection (to Computer): Connect the supplied USB cable from the turntable's USB port to an available USB 1.1 port on your computer. This connection is for digital conversion.

5. Operating the Turntable

5.1 Basic Playback

  1. Place a vinyl record on the platter.
  2. Select the appropriate speed (33-1/3 RPM for LPs, 45 RPM for singles) using the speed selector switch. Use the 45 RPM adapter for singles with larger center holes.
  3. Unlock the tonearm from its rest.
  4. Gently lift the tonearm using the cueing lever and position it over the desired track on the record.
  5. Lower the tonearm slowly onto the record using the cueing lever. The record will begin to play.
  6. To stop playback, lift the tonearm, return it to its rest, and engage the tonearm lock.

5.2 Direct-to-Digital Conversion (USB)

The TTUSB turntable allows you to convert your vinyl records to digital formats using your computer. The included software, Audacity (for Mac/PC) and a trial version of Bias Soundsoap 2, facilitates this process.

  1. Ensure your turntable is connected to your computer via the USB cable.
  2. Install the Audacity software from the provided CD-ROM or download the latest version from the official website.
  3. Open Audacity and configure the input device to recognize the TTUSB turntable (refer to Audacity's help documentation for detailed steps).
  4. Start playing your vinyl record on the turntable.
  5. In Audacity, click the record button to begin capturing the audio.
  6. Once recording is complete, use Audacity's editing tools to clean up the audio (e.g., remove clicks/pops with Bias Soundsoap 2 trial) and split tracks.
  7. Export your recorded audio as MP3 files or burn them to a CD.

6. Maintenance
