1. Introduction

2. Safety Information

4. Setup

4.1. Battery Installation

The keyboard requires two (2) AA batteries, and the mouse requires two (2) AA batteries.

1. For the Keyboard: Locate the battery compartment on the underside of the keyboard. Open the cover, insert two AA batteries, ensuring correct polarity (+/-), and close the cover.
2. For the Mouse: Locate the battery compartment on the underside of the mouse. Open the cover, insert two AA batteries, ensuring correct polarity (+/-), and close the cover.

4.2. Connecting the USB Wireless Receiver

Plug the USB wireless receiver into an available USB port on your computer. Your operating system (Windows 98, Me, XP) should automatically detect the new hardware.

• Standard Typing: Use the main alphanumeric keys for text input.
• Media Controls: Dedicated one-touch buttons allow control of music and video playback, including play/pause, stop, next/previous track, and volume adjustment. These are typically located above the function keys or on the left/right side.
• Programmable Keys: Certain keys may be customized using the Logitech SetPoint software to launch applications, open files, or perform specific functions.
• Zero-Degree Tilt: The keyboard is designed with a flat profile for comfortable typing.

5.2. Using the Laser Mouse

• Left/Right Click: Standard mouse buttons for selection and context menus.
• Scroll Wheel: The scroll wheel allows for vertical scrolling of documents and web pages. It also functions as a middle click button.
• Tilt Wheel: The scroll wheel can be tilted left or right for horizontal scrolling, useful for wide spreadsheets or images.

6. Maintenance

6.1. Cleaning

• Use a soft, lint-free cloth slightly dampened with water or a mild cleaning solution to clean the surfaces of the keyboard and mouse.
• Avoid using abrasive cleaners, solvents, or aerosol sprays.
• For the keyboard, use compressed air to remove debris from between the keys.
• For the mouse, ensure the laser sensor area on the underside remains clean and free of obstructions for optimal tracking performance.

6.2. Battery Replacement

When the battery indicator LED on the mouse flashes or the keyboard/mouse performance degrades, it is time to replace the batteries.

1. Open the battery compartment on the underside of the respective device.
2. Remove the old AA batteries.
3. Insert new AA batteries, ensuring correct polarity (+/-).
4. Close the battery compartment cover.
5. Dispose of old batteries according to local regulations.

The MX3000 is designed for extended battery life, reducing the frequency of replacements.

7. Troubleshooting

7.1. No Connection or Intermittent Connection

• Check Batteries: Ensure batteries are fresh and correctly installed in both the keyboard and mouse.
• Check Receiver: Verify the USB wireless receiver is securely plugged into a working USB port on your computer. Try a different USB port.
• Re-pair Devices: Follow the pairing instructions in Section 4.4.

7.2. Mouse Not Tracking Properly

• Surface: Use the mouse on a suitable surface. While laser mice are versatile, highly reflective or transparent surfaces may affect performance. A mouse pad is recommended for optimal tracking.
• Batteries: Replace mouse batteries if the indicator light suggests low power.

7.3. Keyboard Input Lag or Missed Keystrokes

• Distance: Ensure the keyboard is within the effective range of the receiver.
• Interference: As with connection issues, minimize interference from other wireless devices.
• Batteries: Replace keyboard batteries if performance is inconsistent.
• Software: Ensure Logitech SetPoint software (if installed) is up to date.
