Setup Instructions

Follow these steps to set up your steamer for first use.

  1. Unpack Components: Carefully remove all parts from the packaging. Ensure all components listed in the Product Overview section are present.
  2. Assemble Hanger Pole: Insert the telescopic hanger pole into the designated opening on the main unit. Extend the pole to your desired height and secure it.
  3. Attach Hanger Assembly: Place the hanger assembly onto the top of the telescopic pole. Ensure it is securely fastened.
  4. Connect Steam Hose: Firmly attach the double-insulated steam hose to the steam outlet on the main unit. Ensure a tight connection to prevent steam leakage.
  5. Fill Water Tank: Remove the water tank from the main unit. Unscrew the cap and fill the tank with distilled water. While tap water can be used, distilled water is recommended to minimize mineral buildup. Do not overfill.
  6. Replace Water Tank: Securely place the filled water tank back into its position on the main unit.
  7. Position Steamer: Place the steamer on a flat, stable surface. The unit is equipped with four wheels and rear-locking casters for easy movement and stability. Lock the casters if desired.

Operating Instructions

Learn how to effectively use your Conair GS11RH Professional Upright Steamer.

  1. Plug In: Extend the retractable power cord and plug the steamer into a standard electrical outlet.
  2. Power On: Press the illuminated foot pedal once to turn on the steamer. The indicator light will illuminate, signaling that the unit is heating up.
  3. Wait for Steam: Allow approximately 45 seconds for the water to heat and steam to begin producing.
  4. Control Steam Output: Press the foot pedal again to engage and control the steam output. You can press it to start or stop the steam flow as needed.
  5. Prepare Garment: Hang the garment you wish to steam on the telescopic hanger. Ensure the fabric hangs freely.
  6. Steaming Technique: Hold the steam nozzle a few inches away from the fabric. Move the nozzle in a downward motion, allowing the steam to penetrate the fibers and release wrinkles. For stubborn wrinkles, gently pull the fabric taut with your free hand.
  7. Low Water Indicator: The steamer conveys low water levels with an indicator light. If this light illuminates, turn off the steamer, unplug it, and refill the water tank.
  8. Automatic Shut-off: For safety, the steamer will automatically turn off if left idle for prolonged periods. To resume steaming, press the foot pedal.
  9. Power Off: When finished, press the foot pedal to turn off the steam, then unplug the unit from the electrical outlet.

Maintenance

Proper maintenance ensures the longevity and optimal performance of your steamer.

After Each Use:

  • Empty Water Tank: Allow the unit to cool completely. Remove the water tank and empty any remaining water. This prevents stagnant water and potential mineral buildup.
  • Storage: Retract the telescopic hanger pole and power cord. Store the steamer in a cool, dry place. The removable hose can be detached for more compact storage.

Cleaning Mineral Deposits (Descaling):

If using tap water, mineral deposits may accumulate over time, affecting steam performance. Descale your steamer periodically.

  1. Prepare Solution: Mix a solution of 1/4 white vinegar and 3/4 distilled water.
  2. Fill Tank: Pour the solution into the water tank.
  3. Run Steamer: Plug in the steamer and turn it on. Allow it to produce steam for approximately 30 minutes, or until the tank is half empty.
  4. Rinse: Turn off and unplug the steamer. Empty the tank and rinse it thoroughly with fresh distilled water.
  5. Repeat (if necessary): If significant mineral buildup persists, repeat the descaling process.

Troubleshooting

Refer to this section for common issues and their solutions.

  • No Steam Production:
    • Ensure the unit is plugged in and the foot pedal is pressed to turn it on.
    • Check if the water tank is filled. Refill if empty.
    • Allow sufficient time (approx. 45 seconds) for the unit to heat up.
    • Check for kinks in the steam hose. Straighten any kinks.
    • Mineral buildup may be blocking steam flow. Perform descaling as described in the Maintenance section.
  • Water Leaking from Nozzle or Hose:
    • Ensure the steam hose is securely attached to the main unit.
    • Avoid tilting the steam nozzle too far downwards, which can cause condensation to drip.
    • Do not overfill the water tank.
  • Unit Not Turning On:
    • Verify the power cord is securely plugged into a working electrical outlet.
    • Press the foot pedal firmly to activate the power.
    • Check if the circuit breaker has tripped.
