3. Setup
- Battery Installation: Open the battery compartment on the electronic unit. Insert a fresh 9V battery, ensuring correct polarity. Close the compartment securely.
- Hose Connection: Attach one end of the 25-foot PVC hose to the hose adapter on the electronic unit. Ensure a snug fit to prevent leaks.
- Filling with Water: Hold the electronic unit and the free end of the hose at approximately the same height. Slowly fill the hose with water until the water level is visible in both the unit's reservoir and the free end of the hose. It is crucial to fill the hose completely, avoiding air bubbles.
- Priming the System: To remove any trapped air bubbles, gently raise and lower both ends of the hose. Air bubbles can significantly affect accuracy. Ensure the water level in the unit's reservoir is at the designated fill line, typically indicated by a mark or the sensor's position.
- Initial Check: Turn the unit ON. When both ends of the water in the hose are at the same level, the electronic horn should sound. If it does not, recheck the battery and for any air bubbles in the hose.

4. Operating Instructions
- Establish a Reference Point: Place the electronic unit at a fixed, known reference point. This point will serve as your baseline for all subsequent measurements.
- Turn On the Unit: Flip the ON/OFF switch to the ON position.
- Position the Hose: Take the free end of the hose to the location where you need to establish a level mark.
- Achieve Level: Slowly move the free end of the hose up or down until the electronic horn on the unit sounds continuously. The horn indicates that the water level in the hose end is precisely at the same height as the water level in the electronic unit's reservoir.
- Mark the Level: Once the horn sounds, mark the level at the free end of the hose. This mark is now level with your reference point.
- Working Around Corners: The flexible PVC hose allows you to level around obstructions and corners, making it ideal for complex layouts where traditional levels might be impractical.
- Blind Leveling: The audible horn allows for "blind leveling" where you may not have a direct line of sight to the electronic unit, enhancing single-person operation efficiency.
5. Maintenance
- Draining and Cleaning: After each use, drain all water from the hose and the electronic unit. This prevents algae growth and mineral deposits, which can affect accuracy and hose clarity. Rinse the hose with clean water if necessary.
- Battery Care: Remove the 9V battery if the unit will not be used for an extended period to prevent corrosion.
- Storage: Store the Zircon WL50 in a clean, dry place, away from extreme temperatures and direct sunlight. Coil the hose neatly to prevent kinks.
- Inspection: Periodically inspect the hose for kinks, cracks, or damage. Replace the hose if any damage is found to maintain accuracy.
