Components Overview
The Zoeller 105-0001 package includes:
- Sump Pump Unit
- Collection Basin
- Check Valve
- Necessary Fittings and Hardware
Installation Steps
1. Basin Placement
Place the collection basin in the desired location, ensuring it is level and stable. The basin should be positioned to effectively collect water from the intended drainage area.
2. Pump Installation
Carefully lower the sump pump unit into the collection basin. Ensure the pump is seated securely at the bottom of the basin.

This image displays the complete Zoeller 105-0001 Sump Pump package, including the green cast iron pump unit, the black collection basin, and the green check valve with connecting pipes.
3. Plumbing Connections
Connect the discharge pipe to the pump's outlet. Install the check valve in the discharge line to prevent backflow. Ensure all connections are tight and leak-free. The discharge pipe should be 1-1/2" NPT.
4. Venting
Proper venting is crucial for efficient operation. Connect a vent line to the basin as per local plumbing codes. This allows air to escape as the basin fills and prevents airlock.
5. Electrical Connection
Connect the pump to a grounded 115V/1 Ph electrical outlet. The pump comes with a 9 ft. UL listed 3-wire cord and plug. Ensure the circuit is protected by a Ground Fault Circuit Interrupter (GFCI).
Operating Instructions
The Zoeller 105-0001 Sump Pump features an automatic, float-operated mechanical switch. The pump will activate automatically when the water level in the basin rises and lifts the float, and will turn off once the water level drops and the float returns to its lower position.
Initial Start-up
After installation, fill the basin with water to test the pump's operation. Observe the pump activating, discharging water, and deactivating. Check for any leaks or unusual noises.
Maintenance
Regular maintenance ensures the longevity and reliable operation of your sump pump.
Monthly Checks
- Verify the float switch moves freely and is not obstructed.
- Pour water into the basin to ensure the pump cycles on and off correctly.
- Inspect the power cord for any damage.
Annual Cleaning
Disconnect power. Remove the pump from the basin. Clean any debris from the pump's intake and the basin. The non-clogging vortex impeller is designed to pass 1/2" spherical solids and laundry lint, but periodic cleaning is still recommended.
Troubleshooting
Common Issues and Solutions
