Cigar Caddy 3400 Travel Cigar Humidor Case User Manual

Model: HUM-CC5 | Brand: Cigar Caddy

1. Introduction

The Cigar Caddy 3400 is a durable, portable humidor designed to protect and preserve your cigars in various environments. Constructed from super strong ABS molded plastic, it features an airtight seal, making it waterproof up to 100 feet deep and crush-proof. This case is engineered to withstand temperatures ranging from -10 to 175 Fahrenheit, ensuring your cigars remain in optimal condition.

Key features include:

  • Crush-Proof Design: Foam interior provides cushioning for cigar protection.
  • Waterproof: Airtight seal and robust construction protect against water intrusion.
  • Travel Friendly: Compact and lightweight, includes a lanyard with clip for easy transport.
  • Built-in Humidifier: Features a humidifier disc in the lid to maintain humidity levels.
  • Temperature Resilient: Maintains cigar integrity across a wide temperature range.

2. Setup

2.1 Preparing the Humidifier Disc

The Cigar Caddy 3400 includes a humidifier disc located in the lid. To activate it:

  1. Carefully open the humidor by releasing the two locking clasps.
  2. Locate the humidifier disc embedded in the lid's foam.
  3. Add a few drops of distilled water to the disc. Avoid over-saturating.
  4. Allow the disc to absorb the water. This will help maintain the desired humidity level inside the case.

Note: Some users prefer to remove the humidifier disc and use a Boveda pack (not included) for humidity control, as it offers a more consistent and mold-resistant solution. If using a Boveda pack, simply place it inside the humidor with your cigars.

2.2 Placing Cigars

The humidor features custom urethane foam designed to securely hold up to 5 Churchill-sized cigars. The foam cradles each cigar, preventing movement and damage during transport.

  1. Gently place your cigars into the foam slots.
  2. Ensure cigars are snug but not compressed excessively.

3. Operation

3.1 Sealing the Humidor

To ensure the airtight and waterproof seal, firmly close the lid and engage both removable/replaceable locking clasps. You should hear a distinct click as each clasp locks into place.

3.2 Air Pressure Release

The Cigar Caddy 3400 includes a coin release for air pressure adjustment. This feature is useful when traveling through different altitudes, as it allows you to equalize pressure without compromising the seal.

  1. To release pressure, insert a coin into the slot on the pressure release valve.
  2. Gently turn the coin to open the valve and equalize pressure.
  3. Close the valve after pressure equalization to maintain the airtight seal.

3.3 Portability

For convenient carrying, the humidor is equipped with a lanyard and clip. Attach it to your bag, belt loop, or other gear for easy access during travel or outdoor activities.

4. Maintenance

4.1 Humidifier Disc Care

Regularly check the humidifier disc. When it appears dry, add a few drops of distilled water to maintain optimal humidity. Do not use tap water, as minerals can clog the disc and promote mold growth.

4.2 Cleaning

Clean the exterior of the humidor with a damp cloth. For the interior, ensure the foam is dry before closing the case for extended periods. If using the humidifier disc, periodically inspect for any signs of mold or mildew. If detected, clean thoroughly or replace the disc.

5. Troubleshooting

5.1 Cigars Drying Out

If your cigars are drying out, ensure the humidifier disc has enough distilled water or that your Boveda pack is still active. Also, check that the clasps are securely fastened, and the airtight seal is intact.

5.2 Mold or Unpleasant Odors

If you notice mold or an unpleasant chemical/adhesive smell, especially with a new humidor:

  1. Remove all cigars and any humidity elements.
  2. Thoroughly air out the humidor in a well-ventilated area for several days.
  3. If using the humidifier disc, consider replacing it or switching to a Boveda pack, as some users report the disc can be prone to mold over time.
  4. Clean the interior with a mild, unscented disinfectant if necessary, ensuring it is completely dry before reintroducing cigars.
