1.1 Unpacking
Carefully remove the videorecorder and all accessories from the packaging. Retain the packaging for future transport or storage.
1.2 Connecting to Power

1.4 Connecting to a Television
Use a SCART cable to connect the L-1 ENTREE/SORTIE IN/OUT SCART connector on the videorecorder to a SCART input on your television. This connection handles both video and audio signals.
1.5 Connecting to Antenna/Cable
To receive broadcast television signals through the videorecorder:
- Connect your antenna or cable TV feed to the ANTENNE IN port on the videorecorder.
- Connect the SORTIE RF-OUT port on the videorecorder to the antenna input on your television.
This configuration allows the videorecorder to tune channels and pass the signal to your TV, enabling recording of TV programs.
2. Operating Instructions
2.1 Loading and Ejecting a VHS Tape
- To load a tape, gently insert the VHS cassette into the tape slot with the label facing up until the mechanism pulls it in.
- To eject a tape, press the EJECT button on the front panel or remote control.
2.2 Basic Playback
- Insert a VHS tape.
- Turn on the videorecorder and your television. Select the correct AV input on your TV.
- Press the PLAY button on the videorecorder or remote control.
- Use STOP, PAUSE, REWIND, and FAST FORWARD buttons for tape control.
- The B.E.S.T Picture System automatically adjusts for optimal picture quality during playback.
2.3 Recording a Program
To record a program directly:
- Ensure a blank or recordable VHS tape is inserted.
- Select the desired channel on the videorecorder.
- Press the REC (Record) button. Pressing it again may extend the recording time in increments (e.g., 30 minutes).
2.4 Timer Recording (Showview, VPS/PDC)
The JVC HR-V610E supports Showview, VPS (Video Program System), and PDC (Programme Delivery Control) for convenient timer recording.
- Access the timer programming menu via the remote control.
- For Showview, enter the numerical code found in TV listings for the desired program.
- For VPS/PDC, ensure these functions are enabled in the settings. The recorder will automatically start and stop recording based on broadcast signals.
- Confirm the recording settings and ensure a tape is inserted. The unit will power on and record at the scheduled time.
3. Maintenance
