Step-by-Step Assembly:
- Install Draw Bar and Main Assembly:
Place the draw bar into your vehicle's hitch receiver. Ensure the Swagman logo on the main assembly faces away from the vehicle. Firmly tighten the threaded hitch pin with a 3/4" wrench. The lock washer should be pressed flat. Insert the safety clip.

- Install Wheel Hoops:
Remove the tether pins and lower both side arms. Slide the wheel hoops onto the arms. Secure the wheel hoops with the 4 matching long bolts, washers, and knobs. The wheel hoop spacing can be adjusted based on bike sizes.

- Install Hooks on Upright Ratchet Arm:
Place the long arm hook on the first position facing the vehicle. This can be switched if needed for different bike sizes. Fold the arms up to install small metal screws. Firmly tighten these screws using a Philips head screwdriver. Once in place, these screws will prevent the wheel hoops from sliding off the rack arms.

- Final Security Check:
Always install tether pins before driving with the arms down or up to ensure maximum security.
Operating Instructions
Loading Bikes:
- Prepare the Rack: Ensure the rack is fully extended and secured to the hitch. Adjust the wheel hoops to accommodate your bike's tire size (fits 20" to 29" tire sizes).
- Place the Bike: Lift your bike and place its wheels into the adjustable wheel hoops.
- Secure the Frame: Lower the upright ratchet arm's hook onto the bike's crossbar. The ratchet arms easily adjust to different bike frame sizes (up to 59 cm / 23.2"). For optimal security and to prevent scratches, position the hook on the lower part of the bike frame, such as the drink carrier mount, rather than the top tube.
- Final Securement: Use the provided rubber straps to firmly secure the bike wheels within the hoops.

Accessing Vehicle Trunk/Hatch:
To access your vehicle's trunk or hatch without removing the bikes, simply remove the middle pin that secures the upright mast. This allows the rack to pivot downwards, providing clearance.

Maintenance
- Regular Inspection: Periodically check all bolts, pins, and straps for tightness and wear. Replace any worn or damaged parts immediately.
- Lubrication: Apply a small amount of multi-purpose grease to the sliding mechanisms of the ratchet arms to ensure smooth operation and prevent metal-on-metal friction.
- Cleaning: Clean the rack regularly with mild soap and water, especially after exposure to dirt, mud, or road salt. Dry thoroughly to prevent rust.
- Storage: When not in use, the rack can be folded for convenient storage. Consider storing it indoors to prolong its lifespan.
Troubleshooting
Rack Wobbles Excessively:
- Ensure the anti-wobble hitch device bolt is fully tightened. This is crucial for rack stability.
- Verify that the hitch pin and safety clip are correctly installed and secured.
Difficulty Adjusting Ratchet Arms:
- Apply a small amount of multi-purpose grease to the sliding surfaces of the ratchet arms to improve movement.
- Check for any obstructions or debris preventing smooth operation.
Bike Frame Scratches:
- Ensure the ratchet arm hook is positioned on a sturdy part of the bike frame, ideally not directly on painted surfaces. Consider using protective padding or placing the hook on the drink carrier mount.
- Confirm bikes are not rubbing against each other or the vehicle. Adjust spacing if necessary.
