4. Operating Instructions
4.1 Activating the Alarm
To activate the alarm, slide the 'On/Off' switch located on the side of the unit to the 'On' position. A small red indicator light may illuminate to confirm it is active.
4.2 Alarm Function
When the alarm is active and placed under a door, any attempt to open the door will cause the door to press down on the metal plate of the alarm. This pressure activates a powerful 120-decibel siren, alerting occupants and potentially deterring intruders. The rubber base also provides traction, helping to prevent the door from opening further.
5. Maintenance
5.1 Battery Replacement
The alarm features a low-battery indicator light. When this light signals a low battery, replace the 9V battery by following the installation steps outlined in Section 3.1. Regular battery checks are recommended to ensure optimal performance.
6. Troubleshooting
- Alarm not sounding:
- Ensure the 'On/Off' switch is in the 'On' position.
- Check the 9V battery. Replace if the low-battery indicator is on or if the battery is old.
- Verify that the door makes firm contact with the metal plate on the alarm when opened.
- Alarm slides on floor:
- Ensure the rubber base pad is clean and free of debris.
- The alarm's grip may vary on extremely smooth or highly polished surfaces. Consider placing a non-slip mat or a small piece of tape under the alarm for added stability if needed.
- Accidental alarm activation:
- Always slide the 'On/Off' switch to the 'Off' position before handling or moving the alarm unit.
