Setup

Speaker Placement

The FXi5 speakers feature triangular cabinets and a bi-directional design, allowing for flexible placement to achieve optimal surround sound effects. The drivers and tweeters are aimed in opposing directions to create a diffuse wavefront and wide, lifelike imaging. Experiment with placement to find the best sound for your listening environment.

Connecting Your Speakers

The FXi5 speakers are equipped with gold-plated 5-way binding post inputs for secure and versatile wiring. These posts accommodate large-gauge bare wire, spade connectors, pin connectors, and banana plugs.

1. Ensure your amplifier or receiver is turned off before making any connections.
2. Connect the positive (+) red terminal of the speaker to the positive (+) red terminal of the corresponding surround channel on your amplifier.
3. Connect the negative (-) black terminal of the speaker to the negative (-) black terminal of the corresponding surround channel on your amplifier.
4. Ensure all connections are tight and secure to prevent signal loss or short circuits.

Operating

Bi-Pole/Di-Pole Switch

The FXi5 speakers feature a conveniently located Bi-Pole/Di-Pole switch on the front baffle. This switch allows you to select the sound radiation pattern that best suits your installation requirements and desired surround effect.

• Bi-Pole Mode: In this mode, both sets of drivers (front and rear-firing) operate in phase, creating a more direct and focused sound field. This is often preferred for smaller rooms or when a more precise localization of surround effects is desired.
• Di-Pole Mode: In this mode, the drivers operate out of phase, producing a more diffuse and enveloping sound field. This is typically recommended for larger rooms or when a less localized, more ambient surround effect is preferred, mimicking the sound dispersion of a movie theater.

Maintenance
