5. Displaying Your Model
Your Revell RMS Titanic model is designed for static display. Place it on a stable, flat surface away from direct sunlight, extreme temperatures, and high humidity to preserve its condition. The included display stand provides a secure base for presentation.
6. Maintenance
To maintain the appearance of your model:
- Dusting: Gently dust the model regularly with a soft, dry brush or a lint-free cloth. Avoid abrasive materials that could scratch the paint or plastic.
- Cleaning: For more stubborn dust or grime, lightly dampen a soft cloth with water (and a tiny amount of mild soap if necessary), then gently wipe the surface. Avoid harsh chemicals or solvents.
- Handling: Always handle the model by its base or main hull structure to avoid damaging delicate parts like masts, railings, or lifeboats.
7. Troubleshooting Common Assembly Issues
- Parts Not Fitting: Ensure all flash (excess plastic) is removed from the parts. Sometimes a small amount of sanding or filing is needed for a perfect fit. Do not force parts together, as this can cause breakage.
- Decals Not Adhering: Ensure the surface is clean and smooth. Use a decal setting solution to help decals conform to irregular surfaces and adhere better.
- Paint Issues: If paint is not adhering or appears uneven, ensure the surface is clean and dry before painting. Apply paint in thin, even coats. Humidity and temperature can affect paint drying and finish.
- Broken Small Parts: If a small part breaks, it can often be reattached with a small amount of plastic cement. For very fine parts, consider using a small piece of stretched sprue or wire for reinforcement if possible.
