1. Introduction

Thank you for choosing the Bosch BMS1300 Wet and Dry Vacuum Cleaner. This appliance is designed for versatile cleaning tasks, including vacuuming fine and coarse dirt, as well as liquids. It also features a spray extraction function for thorough cleaning of floors and upholstery. To ensure safe and efficient operation, please read this manual carefully before first use and keep it for future reference.

1.1 Safety Instructions

  • Always ensure the power supply matches the voltage specified on the appliance's rating plate.
  • Do not vacuum flammable or explosive liquids, hot ashes, or sharp objects.
  • Never operate the vacuum cleaner without the appropriate filters installed.
  • Keep hands, feet, and loose clothing away from rotating parts.
  • Unplug the appliance from the power outlet before cleaning, maintenance, or when not in use.
  • Do not use the appliance if the power cord or plug is damaged.

3. Setup

Before using your Bosch BMS1300, follow these steps for proper assembly:

  1. Unpack Components: Carefully remove all parts from the packaging. Check for any damage.
  2. Attach Wheels: Securely attach the four wheels to the chassis of the vacuum cleaner. Ensure they click into place.
  3. Connect Hose: Insert the flexible vacuum hose into the suction inlet on the main unit until it locks.
  4. Assemble Suction Tubes: Connect the aluminum suction tubes together. Attach the desired nozzle (e.g., roller nozzle, spray extraction nozzle) to the end of the tubes.
  5. Install Filters:
    • For dry vacuuming, ensure the double-layer paper filter bag is correctly installed in the drum.
    • For wet vacuuming or spray extraction, remove the paper filter bag and ensure the foam filter (if applicable) is in place to protect the motor.
  6. Fill Water Tank (for wet/spray extraction): Open the lid of the 2-chamber liquid tank and fill the designated compartment with clean water or a suitable cleaning solution (refer to cleaning solution manufacturer's instructions). Do not exceed the MAX fill line.
  7. Connect Power: Extend the power cord and plug it into a grounded electrical outlet.

Note: Always ensure the appliance is unplugged before assembling or changing accessories.

4. Operating Instructions

4.1 Dry Vacuuming

  1. Ensure the double-layer paper filter bag is correctly installed.
  2. Attach the desired dry vacuuming nozzle (e.g., roller nozzle, crevice nozzle).
  3. Plug in the appliance and switch it ON using the power switch.
  4. Adjust suction power if necessary using the secondary air control.
  5. Vacuum the desired area.
  6. After use, switch OFF the appliance and unplug it.

4.2 Wet Vacuuming

  1. Remove the paper filter bag. Ensure the foam filter is in place.
  2. Attach a suitable wet vacuuming nozzle (e.g., the wet wiping lip on the large spray extraction nozzle).
  3. Plug in the appliance and switch it ON.
  4. Vacuum liquids. The appliance will automatically shut off when the liquid tank reaches its maximum capacity (10 liters usable volume).
  5. After use, switch OFF, unplug, and empty the liquid tank immediately.

4.3 Spray Extraction (Carpet and Upholstery Cleaning)

  1. Remove the paper filter bag. Ensure the foam filter is in place.
  2. Fill the 2-chamber liquid tank with clean water and a suitable carpet/upholstery cleaning solution.
  3. Attach the appropriate spray extraction nozzle (large for carpets, small for upholstery).
  4. Connect the spray hose to the nozzle and the appliance.
  5. Plug in the appliance. Switch ON the vacuum function and the spray function (separate switch).
  6. Spray the cleaning solution onto the surface while simultaneously vacuuming it up. Work in overlapping strokes.
  7. For heavily soiled areas, you may pre-spray and let the solution soak for a few minutes before vacuuming.
  8. After cleaning, continue vacuuming with only the suction function to remove as much moisture as possible.
  9. Switch OFF both functions and unplug the appliance. Empty and clean the tanks immediately.

5. Maintenance

Regular maintenance ensures optimal performance and extends the life of your Bosch BMS1300.

5.1 Emptying and Cleaning Tanks

  • After each wet use, empty the dirty water tank. Rinse it thoroughly with clean water.
  • Empty and rinse the clean water/solution tank after spray extraction.
  • Allow all tanks to air dry completely before storage to prevent mold or odors.

5.2 Filter Maintenance

  • Paper Filter Bag: Replace the double-layer paper filter bag (Bosch BBZ21AF) when it is full or when suction power decreases significantly during dry vacuuming.
  • Foam Filter: Regularly check the foam filter (used for wet vacuuming) for dirt. Rinse it under running water and allow it to dry completely before re-installing.
  • Motor Protection Filter: Periodically check and clean the motor protection filter according to the instructions in the manual.

5.3 Cleaning Accessories

Rinse all nozzles, tubes, and hoses with clean water after use, especially after wet or spray extraction cleaning. Ensure they are free of blockages and allow them to dry.

6. Troubleshooting

Refer to the table below for common issues and their solutions:
