  • Drip Pan/Base: Collects drippings during cooking.
  • Power Cord: Detachable for easy storage.

3. Setup

  1. Unpack: Carefully remove all packaging materials and any promotional labels from the grill. Retain packaging for future storage or transport if needed.
  2. Initial Cleaning: Before first use, wash the grill grate and drip pan in warm, soapy water. Rinse thoroughly and dry completely. Wipe the exterior of the base unit with a damp cloth. Do not immerse the base unit or power cord in water.
  3. Assemble: Place the drip pan securely into the base unit. Position the heating element over the drip pan, ensuring it sits correctly. Place the grill grate on top of the heating element and drip pan, making sure it is stable.
  4. Placement: Place the assembled grill on a stable, heat-resistant, and level surface, such as a countertop or table. Ensure there is adequate clearance around the grill for ventilation.
  5. Connect Power: Insert the power cord into the grill's receptacle, then plug the cord into a standard 110-120V AC electrical outlet.

4. Operating Instructions

The Rival 5730M grill is designed for simple operation. It features a single heat setting optimized for grilling.

  1. Preheating: Plug in the grill. The heating element will begin to heat immediately. Allow the grill to preheat for approximately 5-10 minutes to reach optimal cooking temperature.
  2. Cooking: Carefully place food directly onto the preheated grill grate. The 11-inch diameter surface can accommodate up to four jumbo burgers or a comparable amount of chicken, steak, or fish.
  3. Monitoring: Turn food as needed to ensure even cooking. Cooking times will vary depending on the type and thickness of the food.
  4. Smokeless Feature: The design of the grill helps to minimize smoke, making it suitable for indoor use. Ensure the drip pan is in place to catch any fats or liquids.
  5. After Cooking: Once cooking is complete, unplug the grill from the wall outlet. Allow the grill to cool completely before handling or cleaning.

Note: For best results and to prevent damage, do not cover the grill with a lid or any other object while it is operating.

5. Cleaning and Maintenance

Regular cleaning ensures the longevity and optimal performance of your Rival Indoor Grill.

  1. Cool Down: Always ensure the grill is completely unplugged and cooled down before attempting to clean it.
  2. Disassemble: Carefully remove the grill grate and the drip pan from the base unit.
  3. Clean Grill Grate and Drip Pan: Wash the grill grate and drip pan in warm, soapy water. For stubborn food residue, you may soak them for a short period. Use a non-abrasive sponge or brush. These parts are generally dishwasher safe, but hand washing is recommended to prolong their life.
  4. Clean Base Unit: Wipe the exterior of the base unit with a damp cloth. Do not immerse the base unit or the heating element in water or any other liquid. Ensure no water enters the electrical components.
  5. Dry Thoroughly: Ensure all parts are completely dry before reassembling or storing the grill.
  6. Storage: Store the grill in a clean, dry place when not in use.

6. Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your Rival 5730M Smokeless Indoor Grill, refer to the following common problems and solutions:

Problem Possible Cause Solution
Grill does not heat up. Not plugged in; power outlet malfunction; damaged cord/element. Ensure grill is securely plugged into a working outlet. Check household circuit breaker. If cord or element is damaged, do not use; contact customer support.
Excessive smoke during cooking. Drip pan not in place or full; fatty foods; grill not clean. Ensure drip pan is correctly positioned and empty. Trim excess fat from meats. Clean grill grate and drip pan thoroughly before use. Ensure proper ventilation.
Food not cooking evenly. Grill not preheated sufficiently; uneven food placement. Allow grill to preheat for the recommended 5-10 minutes. Arrange food in a single layer and turn as needed for even cooking.
