  2. Initial Cleaning: Before first use, clean all removable parts (carafe, filter basket) with warm, soapy water. Rinse thoroughly. Wipe the exterior of the coffee maker with a damp cloth.
  3. First Brew Cycle (Cleaning): To clean the internal components, fill the water tank to the 10-cup mark with fresh water. Place the empty filter basket into its position. Do not add coffee grounds. Place the carafe on the warming plate. Press the "On/Off" button to start a brewing cycle. Allow the full cycle to complete. Discard the water from the carafe. Repeat this process once more with fresh water.

Operating Instructions

Brewing Coffee

  1. Fill Water Tank: Open the lid and fill the translucent water tank with fresh, cold water up to the desired number of cups, using the dual water level windows as a guide. Do not exceed the 10-cup maximum fill line.
  2. Add Coffee Grounds: Place a standard basket-style paper filter (or permanent filter, if applicable) into the removable filter basket. Add the desired amount of ground coffee. A general guideline is one tablespoon of coffee per cup, adjusted to personal preference.
  3. Position Carafe: Ensure the glass carafe is empty and correctly placed on the warming plate.
  4. Start Brewing: Press the "On/Off" button. The indicator light will illuminate, and the brewing process will begin.
  5. Pause and Serve: The coffee maker features a "Pause and Serve" function, allowing you to temporarily remove the carafe during the brewing cycle to pour a cup. The brewing will pause and resume once the carafe is returned to the warming plate. Do not remove the carafe for more than 20 seconds to prevent overflow.
  6. Keep Warm: After brewing is complete, the warming plate will keep the coffee hot for approximately 2 hours.
  7. Automatic Shut-Off: The coffee maker will automatically shut off after 2 hours of inactivity.

Setting the Programmable Timer (Auto-On)

The programmable timer allows you to set the coffee maker to start brewing automatically at a pre-set time.

  1. Prepare Coffee Maker: Follow steps 1 and 2 from "Brewing Coffee" (fill water, add grounds).
  2. Set Program Time: Press the "Prog" button. The clock display will flash. Use the "H" and "Min" buttons to set the desired brew start time.
  3. Activate Auto-On: After setting the program time, press the "Auto" button. The "Auto" indicator light will illuminate, confirming that the automatic brewing function is activated.
  4. The coffee maker will now automatically start brewing at the programmed time.

Maintenance and Cleaning

Regular cleaning ensures optimal performance and extends the life of your coffee maker.

  1. Daily Cleaning:
    • Always unplug the coffee maker before cleaning and allow it to cool completely.
    • Remove the filter basket and discard used coffee grounds and filter. Wash the filter basket and carafe in warm, soapy water. Rinse thoroughly and dry. These parts may also be top-rack dishwasher safe (refer to product markings if available).
    • Wipe the exterior surfaces of the coffee maker with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or scouring pads.
    • Do not immerse the coffee maker unit, cord, or plug in water or any other liquid.
  2. Descaling (Mineral Deposit Removal):

Mineral deposits (limescale) can build up in your coffee maker over time, affecting performance and coffee taste. Descale regularly, depending on water hardness and frequency of use (e.g., every 1-3 months).

    • Prepare a descaling solution: Mix 2-4 tablespoons of white vinegar with a full carafe of water, or use a commercial descaling agent according to its instructions.
    • Pour the solution into the water tank.
    • Place the empty carafe on the warming plate.
    • Press the "On/Off" button to start a brewing cycle. Allow half of the solution to brew through, then turn off the coffee maker and let it stand for 15-20 minutes to allow the solution to work.
    • Turn the coffee maker back on and allow the remaining solution to brew through.
    • Discard the solution from the carafe.
    • Run at least two full cycles with fresh, cold water to rinse the coffee maker thoroughly before brewing coffee again.
