Usage Instructions

- The AR8200 is designed to be connected to a computer using the optional 8200PC lead with built-in level shift conversion. This will enable computer control via the RS-232C serial port of a computer. An additional piece of software will usually be required to address the computer’s serial port, with the correct set of parameters defined. If using an IBM-PC or clone (with 80386 processor or higher). Microsoft Hyper-Terminal (or Windows-Terminal for
- Windows 3. lx) may be used to address the computer’s serial port.
- For greater capabilities, custom software will be required. The ‘AR8200 Workshop’ software package may be downloaded free from the AOR internet websites, which provides hands-off control, memory management, logging, spectrum display, etc. In addition, another free package, ‘AREX SYSTEM’ (Japanese only), is available as a free download from the AOR Japan website.

If you do not have internet access or suitable software, consider the purchase of the CC8200 in place of the 8200PC lead. The CC8200 provides the 8200PC lead and a CD-ROM containing the ‘AR82m Workshop’ and other software files.
Connection for RS232 operation

- The option socket is mounted on the right-hand side of the AR8200 cabinet underneath the 12V d.c.Input socket. This socket is protected from dust by a rubberised case stopper which is hinged toward the front of the cabinet. Gently lift the stopper from the rear edge to reveal the metallic socket. Fully insert one end of the 8200PC cable into the AR8200 option socket; the other end of the cable has a 9-pin D-type RS232 female plug for connection to a PC or other computer (you may need a 9/25 way adapter on some computers).
- The level shift interface ofthe 82WPC lead is powered by the AR8200 receiver. Be careful to keep dust and dirt from this socket and to prevent liquid from entering the AR8200 via this socket. Ensure that no conductive material is allowed to short-circuit the socket, which may damage the receiver.
