Thank you for purchasing this AMADEUS VIOLA BT SPEAKER WITH DAB+/FM radio. Please read the instructions and warnings carefully before use, to ensure safety and fully understand the operation of this product.

SAFETY PRECAUTIONS

  • Read all the instructions carefully before using the unit and keep them for future reference.
  • Check that the voltage marked on the rating label matches your main voltage.
  • The unit must be placed on a flat stable surface and should not be subjected to vibrations.
  • Do not place the unit on sloped or unstable surfaces as the unit may fall off or tip over.
  • The main socket must be located near the unit and should be easily accessible.
  • Avoid extreme degrees of temperature, either hot or cold. Place the unit well away from heat sources such as radiators or gas/electric fires.
  • Avoid exposure to direct sunlight and other sources of heat. Never place any type of candle or naked flame on the top of or near the unit.
  • To reduce the risk of fire, electric shock or product damage, do not expose this unit to rain, moisture, dripping or splashing. No objects filled with liquids, such as vases, should be placed on the unit.
  • If you spill any liquid into the unit, it can cause serious damage. Switch it off at the mains immediately. Withdraw the main plug and consult your dealer.
  • To prevent the risk of electric shock or fire hazard due to overheating, ensure that curtains and other materials do not obstruct the ventilation vents.

Safety

  • Always disconnect the unit from the mains supply before connecting/ disconnecting other devices or moving the unit.
  • Unplug the unit from the main socket during a lightning storm.
  • This unit will become warm when used for a long period of time.
  • This is normal and does not indicate a problem with the unit.

Mains Adapter

  • Make sure the unit is not resting on top of the mains adapter cable, as the weight of the unit may damage the cable and create a safety hazard.
  • If the mains adapter is damaged it must be replaced by the manufacturer, its service agent, or similarly qualified persons in order to avoid a hazard.

Interference

  • Do not place the unit on or near appliances which may cause electromagnetic interference. If you do, it may adversely affect the operating performance of the unit, and cause a distorted sound.

Supervision

  • Children should be supervised to ensure that they do not play with the unit. Never let anyone especially children push anything into the holes, slots or any other openings in the case – this could result in a fatal electric shock.

Service/Maintenance

  • To reduce the risk of electric shock, do not remove screws. The unit does not contain any user-serviceable parts. leave all maintenance work to a qualified person.
  • Do not open any fixed covers as this may expose dangerous voltages.
  • Ensure to unplug the unit from the main socket before cleaning. Do not use any type of abrasive pad or abrasive cleaning solutions as these may damage the unit’s surface.
  • Do not use liquids to clean the unit.

USING THE DAB+/FM RADIO

  1. Turn on/off the unit
    Press the power button to power on to turn on and radio;
    Press the power button till to Power off to go to standby status;
    Press the power button to power off to turn off the radio.
  2. Switch mode
    Press the mode button repeatedly to select between DAB, FM, AUX-IN, and Bluetooth modes.
  3. Volume setting
    Press V- to lower the volume, press V+ to add the volume.
  4. Settings for all modes
    The settings allow you to tailor the radio with a variety of options to suit you. To access settings from any mode, press “M” button and come to the menu list.

DAB+ radio mode
You can view further DAB station information when the unit is working under DAB mode. Press “M” Button shortly and repeatedly and you can have options include:

  • DLS (Dynamic Label Segment – short text information broadcast with DAB+ audio)
  • Signal Strength
  • Frequency
  • Time
  • PTY (Programme Type)
  • Signal Quality
  • Date
  • Ensemble
  • Bitrate codec

Press “M” button till to appear the Menu list, Menu options are as follows:

  • Station list
  • Preset recall
  • Preset store
  • Full scan
  • Manual tune
  • Prune invalid
  • Backlight
  • Time/Date
  • Alarms
  • Sleep
  • EQ
  • LanguageFactory Reset
  • System version

Station list
Press “M” button to appear in the Menu list, press P-, P+ to locate the Sation list, and press Ok to confirm; From here you can choose the stations recorded by scanning.

Preset recall

  • Press the Pair/Preset button to the preset recall station list or the “M” button to appear on the Menu list, and press P-, and P+ to locate the Preset Recall station list. From Here you can find and choose the favorite stations recorded by preset.
  • Press Preset Stations 1, Preset Stations 2, Preset Stations 3, and Preset Stations 4 buttons and can go directly to the setted stations.

Preset Store

  • During the time hearing Radio, if you wish to store the station in the preset station list, Press “M” button till to appear the Menu list, press P-, and P+ to locate the “preset store”, and press “OK” to enter and press down and up to choose the No. you
  • wish to store. If the No. is used by another station already, your new operation will replace the old station by a new station.
  • During the time hearing the Radio, Press Number 1 over 3 seconds, the station you are now hearing can be stored directly in Preset Station 1, the same, you can save the station you prefer to Preset stations 2, Preset stations 3, Preset Stations 4.

Full scan

  • Press the “Scan” button to fully scan the stations directly, or Press “M” button to appear in the Menu list, press P-, and P+ to locate “Full scan” through the list menus, and then press “ OK” to select.
  • Full scan starts automatically,Once a scan is complete, the radio returns to playing the previously- selected station or the first station on the station list.
  • Note: If no radio station was found, it shows DAB NO Signal. For better reception, extend the antenna or do the full scan again in another place.

4.1.5 Manual tune

  • As well as the normal method of scanning, you can also manually tune to a particular channel/-frequency.
  • Press “M” button till to appears in the Menu list, press P-, and P+ to locate Manual tune through the list of menus, then press “OK” to select a particular channel/frequency.
  • The display shows a live indication of the received signal strength on the selected frequency. Adjustments to your antenna will be manifested in the received signal strength displayed.

Prune Invalid (remove stations that are listed but unavailable)

  • This removes all invalid stations indicated in the station list with a ‘?’ in front of the station name.
  • Press “M” button till to appears the Menu list, press P-, and P+ to locate Prune invalid through the list of menus, then press “OK” to confirm.
    Then press “P-” or “P+” to choose<YES> then press “OK” to confirm removing all invalid stations, it will automatically start the process after seconds.

Backlight

  • The Low, me di u m or High backlight brightness level will be effective immediately and restore the default backlight level according to the selected Timeout option.
  • Press the “M” button till to appear menu list, Use P- or P+ to locate Backlight option, and Press  “OK” to confirm
    Use P- or P+ to locate the Time out option, Use P- or P+ to cycle through options, Always on, 10-180 seconds, Press “OK” to confirm Use P- or P+ to locate the On-level option and press the OK, Use P- or P+ to cycle through  Low , medium, or, High,Press” OK” to confirm

Time/Date

  • Press “M” button till to appear the Menu list, press P-, and P+ to locate the time/date option, press “OK” to confirm,
  • Set time/date: adjust the date and time by using the “P-” or “P+” button and confirm by pressing “OK”;It will be showed setup completed in the display.
  • Set hour system::Use P- or P+ to locate 24-hour system, 12-hour system, and then press “OK” to confirm; if choose a 12hour system,Use P- or P+ to locate AM, PM then press “OK” to confirm.
  • Set date format: Use P- or P+ to locate dd/mm/yyyy; mm/dd/yyyy; yyyy-mm-dd and then press “OK” to confirm
  • Clock Style: Use P- or P+ to locate analog, or digital and then press” OK” to confirm.
  • Auto update: Use P- or P+ to locate no update, update from radio, and then press” OK” to confirm.

Alarms
The Alarms and Snooze functions can only be used when the unit is powered on or in standby status (standby can only be available when the unit is connecting with DC power). If the power is off, the Alarms and Snooze functions are working.

  1. Press the “AL” button and press P- or P+ to choose Alarm 1 or Alarm 2
  2. Or Press the “M” button till it appears in the Menu list, and press P-, P+ to locate “Alarms”. Then Press the “OK” inwards to select Alarm 1 or Alarm2
    • Press “OK” to Alarm 1 to select Alarm 1 On or off
    • Press P- or P+ to locate at the time, Flash “hh”, Press P- or P+ to select “hh”, Press OK to confirm; Flash “mm”, Press OK to select “mm”, Press OK to confirm.
    • Press P- or P+ to locate at Source, press OK, and P- or P+ to choose an alarm from FM, DAB, or Buzzer, and press OK to confirm.
    • Press P- or P+ to locate at repeat t, press OK and P- or P+ to choose Alarm from between Once, Daily, Weekends or Weekday,Press OK to confirm.
    • Press P- or P+ to locate at Duration, press OK and P- or P+ to choose Alarm from between choose from 15 and 30,45,60,90 minutes, Press to confirm.

Note: Set Alarm 2 the same as Alarm 1Snooze

  • When the alarm sounds, Press any button except the Power/Mode, ALARM Button to keep Snoozing for another 5,10,15,30 minutes.
  • Stop Alarms When the alarm sounds, press the power button to stop;

4.1.10 Sleep

  • Press “M” button till to appears in the Menu list, press P-, and P+ to locate“sleep” and Press “OK” to confirm.
  • You can set your radio to turn off automatically using the sleep timer. Press P- or P+ to choose from Sleep off, 15, 30, 45,60,75,90,105, 120 minutes.

EQ

  • Press the “M” button till to appear menu list,use P- or P+ to locate the EQ option,
  • Press P- or P+ to locate Normal, Classic, pop, Jazz, Rock, flat, Movie, and News option, and press “OK” to confirm

Language

  • The language used for display messages can be selected from the below options:
  • English|Norsk|Dansk|Svenska|Suomi/
  • Press “M” button till to appear menu list, use P- or P+ to Language option,
  • Press P- or P+ to locate the language that you wish to use, and press “OK” to confirm.

Factory Preset

  • A factory reset clears all user-defined settings, replacing them with the original default values, so time/date, preferences/settings, DAB+ station list, and preset stations are all lost. Press “M” button till to appear menu list,use P- or P+ to
  • locate Factory Preset option, press P- or P+ to locate No or Yes, and press OK to give up and confirm reset; if confirm reset, the radio settings will go to the original factory default status.

 System Version

  • Press “M” button till to appear menu list, and use P- or P+ to locate System
  • Version option, press Ok to confirm and you can see the software version.

 FM radio mode
You can view further information when the unit is working under FM mode. Press the “M” Button shortly and repeatedly and you can have options include:

  • Radio Text
  • Frequency
  • Station Name
  • Time and Date
  • PTY (Programme Type)

Press “M” button till to appears in the Menu list, and press P-, and P+ to locate your preferred option. The setting menu options are:

  • Station list
  • Full scan
  • Time/Date
  • EQ
  • System version
  • Preset recall
  • Prune invalid
  • Alarms
  • Language
  • Preset store
  • Backlight
  • Sleep
  • Factory Reset

Aux-in mode:

  • Press the “POWER” button repeatedly to go to AUX-IN mode.
  • Press “M” button till to appears in the Menu list, and press P-, and P+ to locate your preferred option. The further operation, please refer to 4.1.7 to 4.1.14

Bluetooth mode:

  • Press the “POWER” button repeatedly to go to Bluetooth mode.
  • Turn on the Bluetooth function on your Bluetooth-enabled device and look for “AMADEUS VIOLA” and pair. After it’s successfully connected, adjust the
  • volume to the desired volume level by pressing the V+ or V- buttons on the radio.
  • Press the “OK” button to Pause and Play, Press the “P-” or “P+” buttons to select Previous or Next Track.
  • Press the “M” shortly and repeatedly to show date/time/status information
  • To disconnect/connect Bluetooth press the Pair button over 3 seconds
  • Press “M” button till to appear the Menu list, and press P-, P+ to locate your preferred option.

Troubleshooting

Problem Solution
No sound –  The station is not tuned in. Fine-tune the station.

–  The volume is set to a low position. Increase the volume.

–  Headphones may be connected. Disconnect the headphones

Buttons are not working Turn of the unit and turn on again after a few seconds.
Station not found Weak signal. Use the manual tune function.
FM: Miss

DAB+: burbling/intermittent cut-out

–  Signal reception is too low. Adjust the aerial or move the unit to a stronger signal location.

–  Rescan stations.

DAB+: ‘No stations available As above then rescan stations.

Battery

  • Operating ambient temperature: 0 – 45°C,
  • Storage and transportation ambient temperature: -20 – 60°C, altitude not higher than 2000m (air pressure not less than 80kPa),

WARNING:

  • replacement of a battery with an incorrect type may defeat a safeguard;
  • disposal of a battery into fire or a hot oven, or mechanically crushing or cutting of a battery, may result in an explosion;
  • leaving a battery in an extremely high temperature surrounding environment, such as sunshine, fire, or hot surface may result in an explosion or the leakage of flammable liquid or gas;
  • a battery subjected to extremely low air pressure may result in an explosion or the leakage of flammable liquid or gas.
